VIDEO GAMES: My top 5 favorite video games of all time.

I haven't played the most of what everyone else is playing these days, but I will list ones that I love, and I am sure some of you will agree...

Before I start, I am not too "mainstream" when it comes to media. I tend to go for alot of movies and games and books that usually have dislikes towards it by the common community and/or cult followings. I'm just strange that way I guess. But as for my list, I hope you will agree and enjoy viewing my list of my top 5 favorite video games(NOTE: I have not played Batman: Arkham City yet so I might have to make certain edits to this list later). As of now however, here is the list so far that has been in my mental hall of fame for years:

#5
Medal of Honor
I am not a big Call of Duty fan, but I love Medal of Honor, and I grew up with this game series. Overall it may just count as the series that is top five, but specifically, my favorite Medal of Honor would be "Rising Sun." The reboot has just recently reminded me of why I like first person shooters. After all, MoH introduced the World War type shooter, as well as zombified nazis. Call of Duty just expanded the idea, brought it back and made it more interactive. It is so fun to go back to the great historic wars and be able to be a part of them, in the comfort of your own room. Medal of Honor pertains itself to be not only a great series of shooters to play, but it makes a good interactive history lesson also.

#4
Transformers: War for Cybertron
I'll be honest, growing up as a kid, I could never get into Transformers. They seemed cool, but I just didn't know about it back then. When Transformers: The Game was released, I tried it out one night, and it made me see just how badass the Transformers were, along with the epic teaser trailer for the first film(seeing that trailer in the theater was incredible). ever since then, I have been a huge Transformers fan, and WFC was the first game I had purchased for the PS3. I played it and fell in love with it immediately, offering great gameplay and beautiful graphics, in addition to immersive multiplayer, it is a must-play for any Transformers fan, old or new.

#3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Don't get me wrong, Batman: Arkham Asylum was a masterpiece by all means(and is probably tied with this one and LEGO Batman, but it couldn't be all three), but I had so much fun with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance by means of character upgrades, power evolution, gameplay, the story, the boss battles and all the many characters that could be played as. Including my favorites such as Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Blade, Nick Fury, and Daredevil just to name a few, not to mention the bonus content all through-out the game just made it even more enjoyable for a geek such as myself, this game had countless days of replay value and is one of the best superhero games available.

#2
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
I love RPG's and this one takes the cake on any other RPG's out there, It is so detailed with characters and powers that it is hard to find a class of character that you wouldn't like, from the strong Nord to the mysterious Dark Elf, you can be a number of classes ranging from knights to even pilgrims. If a fan of the Fantasy genre, this game will grab you and keep a hold of you until you have to make yourself leave your gaming console. It is a fun, addictive fantasy RPG that would have you playing for hours and hours at a time(I've been there). With trolls and vampires, Dark caves to explore in and millions of awesome weapons and treasures and so much more, it has everything that a fantasy RPG gamer would want.

#1
Resident Evil 4
I am a huge fan of the Resident Evil series, so this game was the ultimate in that genre and I think it is one of the best games in the history of gaming. This surpasses the original games by a landslide and reinvents it brilliantly. With fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy returning(from Resident Evil 2) as the main protagonist, badass boss fights, detailed weaponry, amazing gunplay, stunning graphics, the gripping story and the many bonus features that accompany it, RE4 had almost any fan and even non-fan giddy with excitement and joy. With a high level of replay value, I strongly recommend this over any other Resident Evil game(with the exception of the original).

There you have it. I am a very picky gamer and a game has to have that certain value that just makes me want to keep playing and playing. The games listed above(including Batman: Arkham Asylum and LEGO Batman as my honorable mentions) all fit that description of some of histories most legendary games that my children will probably still play years and years from now. Needless to say, My favorites and your favorites may be different sure, but that doesn't take away the fact that whatever game, book, movie, etc., will always serve as the imagination's playground and escape into bigger and better worlds apart from ours.

I hope you enjoyed this article, and If any thoughts, throw 'em in the usual place.
