The other 40 or so suits may not be ones that were ever produced: Tony could do something similar to Extremis where he goes "The suit is too clunky and slow and bulky now, I need to speed it up and slim it down and keep the durability and functionality but I haven't had much success". So he could have 40ish designs for other suits, or maybe some specialized suits, Hulkbuster, Space, etc.

So, they're definitely still calling him War Machine, then... and not Iron Patriot. That's kinda weird.

@@LEVITIKUZ. the avengers armor was the mark 7...everyone was calling the gold armor for IM3 the mark 8 until they revealed that tony refers to it as the mark 42.

My guess is that he will use the gold mark 42 throughout most of the film and will get his ass handed to him in his first major fight....the scenes from the opening of the trailer where he is laid on his back and pulls the mask off. Sometime after that he'll undergo the extremis procedure and control a bunch of other suits with the 42 and for the final fight we MIGHT get a new armor that hasn't been showcased yet. Who knows!!

All I ask is that the final fight be 1) longer than 3 minutes and 2) NOT against someone else in a god damn suit!!!

@MCUFan1 It was confirmed. It's not Norman Osborn, but the armor is Iron Patriot. Marvel acquired the name "Iron Patriot" for licensing purposes. And there are toy listings with "Iron Patriot" on them. http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=15514

BTW, no one's saying they'll call it that in the movie. But the War Machine armor was never called the "War Machine" armor either.

@aztecRaingod yeah I remember the nods to the armors with lines. But I mean literally calling the Iron Patriot by that name, like Tony calls his armors "Mark 1, 2,...etc"

And I think Tony said "you think you have what it takes to be A war machine. Wasn't referring to the armor directly, Mark 2 wasn't modified yet.

aztecRaingod is right. He was like, "You want to be a War Machine? Take your shot." Lol something like that. Cant wait.

That's dumb that they won't even show what they look like. Man of steel will be the best cbm next year followed by iron man 3 then Thor.
