FANTASTIC FOUR 2: Alternate Look Of Johnny Storm After Swapping Powers With Thing

FANTASTIC FOUR 2: Alternate Look Of Johnny Storm After Swapping Powers With Thing

Matte painter and concept artist, Dark Hoffman ("Thor"), lent his artistic skills to Tim Story's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Come see an alternate design for Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) after he swapped superpowers with Thing (Michael Chiklis).

In Tim Story's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Johnny Storm, played by Chris Evans ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier") has an encounter with the Silver Surfer that allows him to swap superpowers with members of his superhero team. In one memorable scene, Ben Grimm/Thing, played by Michael Chiklis ("The Commish"), is intrigued by Johnny's new ability and when he touches Johnny, Ben swaps his Thing form for Johnny's Human Torch powers. Flame on! Of course, Johnny is not pleased with his new rock-like skin and freaks out. It's a fairly humorous scene, but it could've looked a bit different. The image above, that's a piece of concept art that artist Dark Hoffman rendered for the film. As you can see, it is a much bulkier version of a transformed Johnny Storm as compared to the theaterical version that was ultimately chosen. Images of the final version and a video of that scene are below. Do you guys/gals prefer the final or the alternate design?
Catch a wave of "terrific adventure" and "non-stop action" in this fun and fantastically entertaining smash-hit! "Invisible Woman: Sue Storm and "Mr. Fantastic" Dr. Reed Richards are about to be married when a mysterious alien... the Silver Surfer... crashes the proceedings and heralds Earth's impending destruction. With time running out, the Fantastic Four reluctantly teams up with the nefarious Dr. Doom in a thrilling effort to save our planet!

FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF SILVER SURFER was directed by Tim Story, based on a screenplay by Don Payne and Mark Frost. The cast included: Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon and Kerry Washington. No @ ckal, it will be worst.

Ahhh I thought Chiklis and Evans had great chemistry together.

Pity about the Galactus cloud and shitty Dr Doom in the franchise!

And people want us to support the reboot after the two disasters than Fox made before hand? Nope. Fox gonna Fox -_-

But I do find it ironic that they went from making Evans really big in this movie to making him really small in Captain America.

@McNy

Josh Trank is a great director and knows what they're doing. Fox also gave us XMen movies in which most were good and one of them is definitely one of the best superhero movies ever.

One thing I like about commenting on CBM over reddit is that I won't get down voted for saying stuff like this:

I loved this movie. It's called Rise of the Silver Surfer, not Attack of Galactus.
Galactus was only cameoed. If you look closely, he IS in the cloud. He's not THE cloud. It's the machine he uses to eat planets. I thought it looked great. Having Johnny gain everybody's powers was awesome! Doom on the surfboard stealing the power cosmic was AWESOME!

It wasn't a perfect movie, but people complain about the wrong shit. They even fixed the stupid shit they did with Doom from the first movie! That has to have scored them some points, right?

But no. It will forever be catalogued by fandom with the rest of Fox's disappointments.

The team was never the problem in either FF movie. All 4 actors portrayed each character (IMO) just exactly like they are in the comics. They had the personalities down pat. They came off just as nerdy and goofy (like a close nit family that doesn't care what the outside world thinks of them) as they are in the comics.

The problem with both films involves...1. Doom, who was sooo mis-cast and miserable to watch as anybody I can remember seeing on film aaaannnnnd the great Galactus cloud. WTF?

I never like the Fantastic Four comics and I didn't like either film very much for many of the same reasons soooo... they must have done something right in filming them.

We can only pray to god that this new F4 movies bombs to Hell so that Fox will give up and allow F4 (not to mention Silver Surfer and Galactus) to return home.

on a side note: according to Josh Trank, Miles Teller is NOT Reed Richards. they'd never consider such an inexperienced actor (who's first feature-length film was in 2010) as the best fit for an intelligent & experienced main character in a CGI-heavy science fiction. I'm aware that actors can disengage from their own personality to fit certain mannerisms, but shouldn't Reed have sharp, angular features, a tall hairline, strong jawline, a jutted chin and furrowed brows -- a description that fits both 616 and Ultimate artwork, but this actor doesn't have any defining features or the natural 'scientist' ethos. he's the last person I'd expect to see in a laboratory and I have no idea what Jeff Sneider was thinking when he forged that casting report.

Watching Cap 2. made realize how much more fitting Evans is as Roger as opposed to he was as Johnny Storm. He did a pretty great job in these movies none the less, but thank god Thing is gonna be CGI in this movie cause I can't imagine Jamie Bell under all that orange Styrofoam crap.

@SilverFalcon

There is no official deal in place for Bell, 20th Century Fox had no comment, and representatives for Teller, Mara and Bell declined our request for comment.” -TheWrap

Bell was just a fan-cast, the rest is debatable.

"Jamie Bell had never been mentioned in connection with this movie. But I think it's a perfect choice. No, he's not the [accurately describes Ben Grimm's physicality] he's a skinny, scrappy kind of guy, but he has experience with motion-capture performance." -Jeff Sneider

"Josh Trank is a great director and knows what they're doing."

Because he made one great film? If you have been following the production of this film you should know that

1) The filming has been delayed humerous times. Was suppose to start filming end of March, was delayed again to April.

2) Numerous script re-writes with the final script being re-written and polished by Simon Kinberg. *shrugs*

3)95% of the rumours for this film have turned out to be true, I now worry for that leaked synopsis.

4) Fox is making the film.
