Not to be completely outshined by Disney's massive
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge expansion, Universal Studios - the House of Mouse's biggest theme park competitor - has something special planned for its own park in Orlando, Florida. Announced this week, Universal Orlando's
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade will be getting a brand new "thrilling roller coaster" inspired by Hagrid and his motorbike.
Opening this summer,
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is being billed as "Universal's most highly themed coaster." Unfortunately, beyond a vague overview, we don't really have many details.
For the first time ever, join Hagrid as you fly far beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the paths of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.
Based on what we know about Hagrid's driving skills from the scene in
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we can probably assume this is going to be a pretty intense ride. Universal has released a single promotional image (above) for the intriguing new ride which suggests it'll be a traditional coaster similar to the
Dragon Challenge. Judging from the image, it doesn't appear that it'll incorporate VR technology as seen in Universal's other
Harry Potter rides, such as
Escape From Gringotts or the
Forbidden Journey.
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is slated to open on June 13, 2019. As a reminder, Hogsmeade is the portion of
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter that's located in Universal's Islands of Adventure. Of course, buying a park hopper allows you to visit both parks and take an immersive train from Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade and back.
More details about
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will be revealed in March, Universal confirmed.
