The Wolverine actor confirmed that he will be playing "Blackbeard" in WB's upcoming "Pan". He goes onto describe how he feels about the role, while lighting the Empire State Building in green and gold for Australia Day in New York City.

"I'm very excited," Jackman said, smiling from ear-to-ear. "I love it. I love the director Joe Wright, I love working with Warner Bros. and I think this is just really exciting. It's a very cool project. And it's wonderful for my kids!" he added.

And despite being an Oscar-nominated actor, Jackman says he will never get over his good fortune.

"Back then, I grew up wishing I could travel and wishing someone would pay me to have a job where I could travel, so dreams come true," he said. "Be careful what you wish for."

Warner Bro.'s upcoming fantasy film "Pan" has been gaining a lot of press recently as it shockingly replaced Batman vs Superman for WB's lucky mid-summer 2015 release date.

This movie should be Pirates of the Caribbean meets The Hobbit.

Well congratulations for him. I am bumbed it is going to be a kid film though. I believe there is a lot of potential for a great film. But I personally would like to see a darker take on the tale. It is a public domain property after all. I could see it being a really great film if you make it like Fables or something. I don't know why there needs to be so many movies that tell the same story. Why not keep the idea and add your own ideas to the tale. This way it would be more fresh and could even bring in a new audience.

I can understand where you are coming from. But sadly when you have films that portray books they a lot of time change something's to go after a younger audience. The big one being Wizard of Oz. A lot of people don't know that it was made for adults but MGM wanted to make it more family friendly. So now you have people thinking of that version. Even Peter Pan was changed and most people think of the Disney version. Maybe you are right and it will tell more of a different story and one closer to the subject material. Maybe this one will show the Mermaids being closer to Sirens like they are portrayed in the book. MrCBM56 is right in a sense that Neverland is like the Hobbit. But I would even say a little bit of A Princess of Mars like book.

But I can see what you are meaning. Maybe dark is not the right word I should have used. If it ends up being something like the Goonies that is made for a younger audience but adults like it too would be great.

A dream come true? For who? It sure as [frick] wasn't a "dream come true" for those of us who wanted another CERTAIN film to come out on this date.

The week before this is Minions and it's competing with a Marvel movie. It has to be spectacular in order to be a success.

Happy it wasn't "Wendy" outside. Wouldn't want all that "Dust" to "Fly" away....

Ask any kid = ask any old geezer who watched the old cartoons and countless Peter Pan adaptations.

Pan is irrelevant compared to a Marvel film after Avengers 2.

Face it geriatric DC fans, it's becoming more of a Marvel World esp when in the eyes of children and teens.

Antman is going to be the better film. WB should leave the fairy tales to Disney, the should have learned there lesson from Jack the Giant Slayer flopping hard.

Ask any kid who Peter Pan is? Are you guys serious? It's 2014 folks, and, I doubt most children these days know who or what a Peter Pan is. Get real...

And as far as it outdoing Ant-Man in the Box Office, well, it's going to come down to the trailers while Marvel has the advantage with their label steadily gaining momentum.
