Official synopsis:

Part 1 begins as Harry (Daniel Radcliffe, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort’s (Ralph Fiennes) immortality and destruction — the Horcruxes. On their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.

Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort’s Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter . The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort ... alive.

Harry’s only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale — the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.

Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became "the Boy Who Lived." No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 opens November 19; Part 2 opens July 15, 2011!

Did you hear the crazy news that Rowling is contemplating more Harry Potter novels?!?
bsprecher
bsprecher - 10/2/2010, 4:24 AM
@grif: You should at least consider giving the last two movies a shot. The early ones were very juvenile, but they've really upped the drama and action in the newer movies.

I just want to point out that JK has said any post book 7 potters will only be for charity. And most likely she'll only do the encyclopaedia.

bsprecher - 10/2/2010, 5:45 AM
@IrfonW: That was what she said last year, but she just told Oprah that she has ideas for at least three more books.

Plus she wants to move on to other projects. I don't think new potter books are very likely any time soon. I do however wishes she would hurry up with the encyclopaedia that she's writing for charity

@Brent Sprecher

true. But it's not like she'll hurry back in to the world of potter to make a few non necessary novels. Even though they could be interesting, and if she does what she says, and they are for charity, all the better. I personally rather she did the encyclopaedia first though.

Anyway, she said she feels like she's finished

"I could easily write an eighth or ninth. I feel I am done, but you never know."

@LEEE777

If you read the books, you'd realise than you can't really cut much of the story out of the seventh book, plus this means an epic battle at the end of part 2

Although I like Harry Potter and stuff, why is it on CBM? It's not a comic book movie.

@Ryden:

A) Because a lot of comic book fans dig HP and the final movies are big news.
B) Because I've been an editor for three years and have the discretion to veer off course from time to time.

@LEEE
Damn right, its a con, I like the books but this first movie will be the most boring shit ever, all it will consist off is them camping for two hours and looking worried

the second part will make up for it though, epic fights and deaths

@dancingmonkey08
If I recall there's a few action scenes up to where they will cut the movies in half (Malfoy Manor)

@LEEE777
Don't mean to sound like a twat here, but you can't really call harry potter crap with out reading the books
thwip
thwip - 10/2/2010, 7:33 AM
...so the part 1 poster says "the end begins"

does that mean that the part 2 poster will say "the end will end at the end of the ending"?
IrfonW
IrfonW - 10/2/2010, 7:40 AM
@thwip

I bet the tag line for the next film will be about the battle of Hogwarts.

There will be a good guy poster and a bad guy poster and stuff

LEEE777 - 10/2/2010, 7:46 AM
IrfonW @ The movies was enough dude... : P

Try reading 'Books of Magic' and tell me if Harry Potter didn't rip that sucker off!

Yeah its all WB so its all good! : D

Well apart from BOOKS being DC Universe an all!
IrfonW
IrfonW - 10/2/2010, 7:56 AM
@LEEE777

The books are brilliant man. Give them a try at least.

From what I can gather, what is similar is the fact both where normal kids and was given an owl once introduced in to the magical world. nothing else is the same.

Gaiman was asked if he thought Rowling was aware of his 1990 comic, to which Gaiman replied "wasn't the first writer to create a young magician with potential, nor was Rowling the first to send one to school"

If you look to deep in to many stories, they are the same. So there is hardly any point saying they are the same.

@LEEE dude, you can't compare Harry Potter and Twi-shite. That's just stupid! It's like compairing TDK to Howard The Duck.

Harry Potter is FAR better written, and MUCH less idiotic & is nowhere near as dull as [frick], compaired to the twilight books. Same goes for the movies.

Infact, how bout me never speak of Twilight on CBM ever again? Everytime we say..."it," an innocent little CBM geek dies. Sound good...ok
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 10/2/2010, 9:09 AM
IrfonW @ That could be true, but I still think she ripped DC off, hell WB is even paying her lol!

Still I will give the books a read, but I still find the movies dull.

ROCK @ Okay dude I'll never speak of that VAMIPIRE sucking thingie ever again! ; D

P.S. Whats wrong with HOWARD THE DUCK?!?

jk.

i just had the dumbest conversation last night regarding twilight and harry potter. i think i might go see the midnight showing of this.
Ryden
Ryden - 10/2/2010, 5:42 PM
@Brent- 1. Fair enough, but that still doesn't MAKE it a CBM or relevant to the site.

2. And? Just because you're an editor doesn't really justify posting articles that aren't CBM related, when I did it ages ago I practically got lynched from anyone who bothered to comment

And don't get me wrong, I love Harry Potter and I guess I'm glad you posted it, but I just don't get why you're "allowed" to post things that aren't CBM related.

@LEE- Not a CBM unless it's based on a comic book
