Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures/New Regency have finalized a deal to distribute Darren Aronofsky's next film, Noah - based on the classic Bible story of Noah's Ark, and will be made into a graphic novel sometime before the film's release - after winning a bidding war with 20th Century Fox. Gladiator scribe John Logan will rewrite the script co-written by Aronofsky.
Paramount and New Regency have formalized a deal to partner on Noah, the Biblical epic that Darren Aronofsky will direct as his followup to the Oscar-nominated smash Black Swan. Apparently it takes less time to build an ark and survive a Biblical flood than it does to close a deal like this, but the partners have also locked in Gladiator scribe John Logan to rewrite the script by Aronofsky and Ari Handel. Aronofsky and Scott Franklin will produce it.
Deadline goes on to say that the film is being fast tracked, hopefully to begin production next Spring. Also, a few words from Aronofsky on the story of Noah...
“Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family’s journey,” Aronofsky said. “The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It’s my hope that I can present a window into Noah’s passion and perserverence for the silver screen.”
With Christian Bale considering the film after he wraps up
