The U.S. distribution rights for the Solomon Kane movie has been snagged by Lionsgate recently at the American Film Market. The movie which is based on Robert E. Howard's character, who also has a good run in comics, is about a Puritan gunslinger, who fights demons and other monsters in pre-Revolution America.

Michael J. Basett directs and stars James Purefoy as the titular character. With the acquisition by Lionsgate the film will have a theatrical release.

I heard good reviews about this film, and I will definitely watch this.

Lionsgate has officially denied the report that they have acquired the distribution rights to Solomon Kane.

The film's director, Michael J. Bassett recently posted this on his blog:

"Lots of notes and emails coming through telling me that Lionsgate have picked up Kane. Yes, it seems like a good fit but no, it isn't true – as far as I am aware. Don't know where this rumour started but sorry folks in North America, you are no nearer to seeing Solomon Kane. Everyone else; early next year."

Heard good things bout' this one. And @Falc, they only let me down so far with "Warzone." Other than that, I am otherwise ok with them.

You can learn about Solomon Kane by reading Robert E. Howard's tales available on Amazon.com. ISBN-10: 0345461509
The binding by Del Ray is bad, but the drawings in it are good, really good. They're by Gary Gianni. So just flip through it at the store.

Also I added a section to Google News called "Conan the Barbarian" (you can search for it after going to "add a section" -- you need a google account of some kind to get these options), and it pulls up Solomon Kane stuff, which is how I got to this article.

This looks like a good site.
