Oscar winner Ron Howard is adapting Stephen King's book The Dark Tower and the whole process is getting Hollywood in an uproar as stars vie for the coveted lead roles in what will be both a movie franchise and tv series. According to NYPost out in front for the main character of Roland Deschain, are Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen.

Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and Howard have a deal with Universal Pictures and..

The plan is to start with a epic feature length movie, then continue it with a TV season, then follow that by a second movie, then back again to a second television series as Deschain in his young days and adventures. Then in the third and last film rounds off the saga with Deschain as an older man.

LEEE777 - A television series plus 3 films, with all of them using the same cast. As far as I know has never been done before? Fingers crossed its a huge success, thoughts below.

Lol @ Ror, article came out a bit sooner than I thought it would have, hadn't actually finished, thanx for the edit! ; )

I'd prefer VIGGO as LEX LUTHOR but then again he'd own in this too, but so would BARDEM!

Hope WARNER BROS is watching... this is what they should do with Green Lantern/Batman etc and connect the DC series too!

Maybe even a Guy Gardner TV show! ; D

Dont get me wrong. I think hes a great actor. It just amazes me how everyone casts him for everything! Bad performance? Dunno. Bad movie? HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. It was a B-movie if I ever saw one.

No it's gotta be Viggo. Javier DOES NOT look the part, and he's been in too many cbm's anyway

if Clint Eastwood were about fifty years younger I'd say he's the perfect choice for Roland but since he's not I think Viggo's a good choice.

I just hope that they cast this right and don't just go with the 'it' guy/girl to fill out the rest of the roles.
