While an official release date was recently revealed,
The Hollywood Reporter, has revealed official details on the story of Columbia's upcoming sequel,
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, as well as two new cast members joining the star Nicolas Cage.
THR says...
"The story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday."
Irish actor Ciaran Hinds is in negotiations to join as the "devil" mentioned in the story details, while Italian actress-singer Violante Placido is also in talks to play the boy's mother.
Columbia will release the film in North America, and Hyde Park Entertainment has international distribution rights. And with a 3D release set for February 17, 2012, duo-directors Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor are leaning toward a late-November start, with shooting scheduled for Romania and Turkey.
