BOX OFFICE: G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Crosses $320M Worldwide, Surpassing RISE OF COBRA

We have a box office update on Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Despite mostly negative reviews, the 3D sequel has now made nearly $323M worldwide, surpassing 2009's The Rise Of Cobra.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation hasn't received the most positive reviews (it has a mere 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), but the 3D sequel has been a success at the box office. As of this weekend, the film has grossed an estimated $322.9M worldwide. This is higher than the $302.5M intake of 2009's The Rise Of Cobra. While the first film has a $150M+ domestic gross and $152.3M overseas, Retaliation has currently grossed $111.2M+ domestically and $211.7M internationally. Especially as the sequel has a lower budget than Rise Of Cobra (which had a $175M budget, compared to Retaliation's $130M), this is great news for Paramount Pictures. A third installment is already in the works, and fingers crossed that it won't take another four years for it to be released. Have you seen G.I. Joe: Retaliation yet?

I thought the movie was awesome! But I did miss Baroness and Scarlet, plus Destro was only in it for 30 seconds, lol.

Bring them back in the third movie! And bring on Storm Shadow's wolf and the Cobra twins, lol. And Shipwreck!

I guess the only people who liked the movie are fans of the original tv show.

Guys don't support films like these otherwise Hollywood will keep dumping huge piles of crap on us. I'm looking at all three of you G.I.Joe: Retaliation, Iron Lady 2, and Iron Crap 3.

Wildaniel - um no. Im a HUGE fan of the original show. And though its cool to see them in a live action incarnation, it was done poorly

Movie was an excellent live action take of GI Joe. In part 3 I'd like to see Baroness re-cast as Milla Jovovich and Destro as Gerard Butler. That would be sweet. There's enough comic book ways to get around the change in look.

this movie was the biggest pile of crap. i actually thought this movie had a chance of being good but i would have to compare this film to revenge of the fallen in terms of how crap it is.

@Wildaniel

Storm Shadow didn't have a wolf, Snake Eyes did...the aptly but not creatively named Timber.

He was however used to make Serpentor in the comics...

I thought Timber was gonna be in this one. And what the [frick] did Destro do to get 'out of the band'?

hey...The Rock can do NO wrong. haters always hate..screw em!! the money's rollin' in and THAT's what matters. the big guy's saved 2 (count em..TWO) troubled franchises so far. if Man of Steel doesn't deliver, wb might need to give mr. johnson a call.

Rise of Cobra as systematicly week in story and direction. Retaliation was awesome and waaaaaay better than number 1. Dwayne Johnson practicly saved the franchise. Action was good, story was well written/told and special effects were insane. 3D didn't really do it for me though. Adrienne Palicki as Lady Jay in the red dress was hot as hell. Oo la la!

I like the movie and even thou the first was not that great...I like how they kept it link.

The biggest disapointment is Zartan being old and sorta fat and not the mean killer he is in the comics...and that they killed a good character in Fire FLy....

They could do so much with the next one if they had the 3 ninjas SE,SS,Jx vs. Zartans Red Ninjas and have Zandar and Zarana ploting and then have a alternate story line...
I like the long comic story of how Cobra created Cobra Island close to US territory and how they fought on the island to claim if for USA vs. CObra and how GI Joe lost in the end and Tomax and Xandar won the case in court as a new country.....The whole story look as if Cobra was stealing scientist to plan a terrorist attach...all the while they created there own country.
