BOX OFFICE: G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Crosses $320M Worldwide, Surpassing RISE OF COBRA
We have a box office update on Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Despite mostly negative reviews, the 3D sequel has now made nearly $323M worldwide, surpassing 2009's The Rise Of Cobra.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation hasn't received the most positive reviews (it has a mere 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), but the 3D sequel has been a success at the box office. As of this weekend, the film has grossed an estimated $322.9M worldwide. This is higher than the $302.5M intake of 2009's The Rise Of Cobra. While the first film has a $150M+ domestic gross and $152.3M overseas, Retaliation has currently grossed $111.2M+ domestically and $211.7M internationally. Especially as the sequel has a lower budget than Rise Of Cobra (which had a $175M budget, compared to Retaliation's $130M), this is great news for Paramount Pictures. A third installment is already in the works, and fingers crossed that it won't take another four years for it to be released. Have you seen G.I. Joe: Retaliation yet?
