While promoting Steven Soderbergh's Haywire he talked briefly about Jon Chu's G.I. Joe: Retailiation. He returns for the sequel to reprise his role as Captain Duke Hauser.

Collider's Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub sat down with actor to discuss his upcoming action movie, Haywire, but Frosty was able to pop in a question about G.I. Joe 2. Listen as Channing Tatum is quick to point out that this film will be better than Stephen Sommer's G.I. Joe, largely because the effects are practical and not so over-the-top. Out with the lasers, in with the real badass guns.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is directed by Jon Chu and will star: Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, Channing Tatum as Duke, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Bruce Willis as Joe Colton, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, and Lee Byung-Hun as Storm Shadow. The film hits theaters June 29, 2012.

Sounds promising. I remember when Jon Chu was campaigning to direct it. Hope he delivers. No Wayans is always a good thing.

@Intruder: LOL at Dinosaucers! One of my favorite cartoons as a kid. Imagine a live action film with Terra Nova graphics, that would suck.

And yes we all know he's going to die in the movie (hopefully)

Nailbiter, actually, the least hostile approach would've been to just let it stay there, but okay sounds good....I think channing tatum is not a bad actor(guide to recognizing your saints) but he does come off one dimensional at times, either way I think this movie will be an improvement over the last

Tatum is without doubt THE worst actor of his generation! It wasn't the FX so much making the first movie bad, although the movie had no redeeming features, he sticks out as the turd crowning the disaster.

Is he saying we're supposed to b taking this film seriously. I kinda liked the cartoony aspect. But then again I'm brittish and it ain't really that well known. Not my generation anyway. I thought it was supposed to b funny. I laughed anyway.

If you want to do a "cartoony" adaptation of animation, look to Speed Racer. It was a perfect movie and a great adaptation of the source material (after it was dubbed for American audiences, of course).

The first G.I. Joe was a travesty. I'm sure Larry Hama was cringing the entire time he watched it. If you enjoyed Rise of Cobra you aren't really a G.I. Joe fan.

That being said, Retaliation will own. YO JOE.

Even though this movie looks more promising than the first; Channing Tatum will somehow make every scene he's in suck because he's such a shitty ass actor.

Promising...but, then again, I had high hopes for the first one when I heard that Ray Park was gonna be Snakeyes...


...and that was about the ONLY redeeming quality I found in the first film.

@misterjoshua- haha yep, the only good thing about the first movie was snake eyes and storm shadow that was pretty much it.

seriously i cant believe all the people that had anything to do with the first movie decided it was a good idea to cast tatum channing as DUKE of ALL people. i feel like they must not have been fans of the original cartoon. because when i think of Duke i think of that one from the old school cartoon, who is in his 30s and isnt some lame ass urban hip-hop wannbe punk who talks with that slang and accent of his (tatum). the only good thing about maybe the second one is that it looks like we hopefully wont see much of tatum, thats what im praying for anyways
