"Thats Not My Face" Says Cobra Commander

Cobra Commander Gordon-Levitt talks about his role and the recent action figure picture.

When asked about the action figure Gordon-Levitt states:

"That toy is not my face. It's a mask. I like that I get to keep my face," he said. "It has less to do with me and more to do with this character that I helped create. That's more thrilling to me. It's this thing that was born out of a creative, collaborative process between me and a bunch of other people that all worked on creating this character."



Well thank the maker! That toy was a horrible version and hopefully not what we will see in the G.I. Joe movie.

Gordon-Levitt offered further details regarding Cobra Commander, he goes on to say:

"The way the character looks, that's what ultimately convinced me to do the part," he says. "I saw the designs and drawings of the way they interpreted my character for this movie - the costume, the whole getup - and I was like, 'Oh, wow. I get to be that guy? Fantastic. Sign me up. Please. Thank you.'"

G.I. JOE RISE OF COBRA opens in theaters August 7.

So is he saying that Cobra Commander wont have a mask at all??? That's even worst!!!!!!!

CC had a mask for a reason!

This toy might look dumb & Lord knows I don't like this new version if it is correct...

But not having a mask would only make things even worst!!!

Yeah I personally prefer the hooded version of Cobra Commander. Hoping they don't eff this up cause I am really looking forward to this movie.

So...it took several people, working together, to make the crappiest version of this great character?!? I'm glad that all of you could reach a consensus on something so terrible. Champagne all around!!

This movie has already tanked and it's not out until August. They went out of their way to ruin the character designs and turn it into an "International Force" instead of staying true to the U.S. Special Forces roots.

With s**t like this, I hope it bombs spectacularly and destroys any hope of a franchise.

SAY NO TO G.I. JOE.

yeah i know Pumchavas its a good arguement, being PC irks me.. as long as people dont come right out and say hey [frick] your religion and your beliefs folks should chill out, sometimes a cloak over a guys face is just a cloak over a guys face! but i sure hope it isnt the case either, i would like to ask that question to them however.

Let Cobra have his hood! But will see the movie none-the less I think it will be pretty cool.

Shibazz, don't be a douche. All the Transformer purists out there can eat a dick. I love the Transformers. I have since they came out. I actually used to like GO-Bots too, but anyway. Things change. These movies arent' just for the hardcore assholes that have had their childhood "ruined". (For your information, Transformers:The Movie back in 1986 f*cked everything up.) Personally, I like the changes. BB crying, that is bs, but he was a pussy in the cartoon. As for Jetfire, what's the big deal? He's not that cool. So his figure had some crazy armor that was easy to lose and that made him a hella collectible. Who cares? The movie is going to be bad ass, and I'm pretty sure you're gonna see it anyway despite all your naysaying, so man up and stop being a whiny bitch.

I think they've had such a bad response to that friggin' Action Figure!!! Their gonna reshoot a couple of scenes with the cool mask or heck with the classic helmet somewhere near the end! Actually the whole get up is probably M.A.R.S gear an he gets his own COBRA gear when he becomes COBRA COMMANDER when COBRA's risen!!!

word on the street is the filmmakers didn't like the hooded look because it was too reminiscent of the KKK. If that's the case at least use the helmet. Every fan on this site knows G.I.JOE is not racist (yes I know Roadblock bust rhymes in the show and Storm Shadow and Spirit didn't have to "sound" that way). Being an african-american myself, the thing that drew me to the show in the first place was the racially diverse cast that G.I. JOE has. It was cool to see all races depicted in animation on one show. But nowadays you have to watch yourself not to offend anyone, so I will be surprised if the hooded look is in the film.

Its ok , i will be here for you. And JetFire was the Bee's Knees in the toon and his action figure was staight up Warrior class, not an elder type. There should be Elder types and i would love to see that personality in the movie. My problem is when a director and or writers and Execs decide to take a well developed character and completely undue the mythos behind them.They tend to change everything from their appearance to their personality. Imagine if Perseus(Clash of the Titans) went from fit to fat , from greek to arab and from leader to follower. From white to black, from cool ass adventurer to wisecracking buffoon. That is what Michael Bay has done to the Transformers. Sure Jet fire is a plane, but thats it. It like keeping Perseus male.Thats it.

Honestly, I still don't understand why they didn't go with the hood. It doesn't look anything like the KKK hood, it's not pointed, it's not white, they had no problem marketing it in toys, cartoons, games, and comics, but put it in a live action...oh no that's too similar to the white supremacist. It couldn't be any farther than that image!

I mean come on, is this really the society we have, that anyone's first inclination is to assume something is being derogatory towards a race? I mean Storm Shadow wears all white, I think he looks too much like the KKK, racist bastard.

Lol @ STUMBLIN @, Hey hopefully (well if they have any brains), well see the proper COBRA COMMANDER at the end (be it the mask or the helmet), an hopefully FOX will do this too with DEADPOOL!!! They will be both fools if they don't! Alot of backlash over classic cool characters!!! Anyway this is the RISE of Cobra so it might actually happen!!!! Think about it, M.A.R.S makes that outfit for the Commander! Heck he better get he's own lol!

But their were good reasons for those changes. In Transformers, they couldn't get the correct vehicles because particular car companies wouldn't do it. GM was all about it.

And Wolverine wearing just the tank top, I agree his costume in the comic would not translate well in the movie, especially his head piece, I mean really what are those ear thingies anyway?

However, Cobra Commander's hood would be fine, and I think they're just trying to walk on egg shells for no damn good reason.
