David Ayer Seemingly Teases Black Mask For GOTHAM CITY SIRENS

Has the big bad of Gotham City Sirens just been revealed? Director David Ayer has taken to social media to share a very intriguing image which seemingly confirms the deranged villain's role here...

We know next to nothing about Gotham City Sirens beyond the fact that it's thought Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will be joined by Catwoman and Poison Ivy. However, director David Ayer may have revealed a key detail today when he took to social media to share a random comic book panel of the villainous Black Mask, a member of Batman's iconic rogues gallery.

For those of you unfamiliar with the character, he's a ruthless mob boss who gets off on torturing and murdering those who do him wrong. He was responsible for the death of Stephanie Brown (Spoiler/Robin) and once played a key role in a Catwoman storyline which culminated with her letting him fall to his apparent death. Like most comic book villains, though, he returned.

If he is who this team assembles to take on in Gotham City Sirens, that's a very interesting choice and we'll hopefully learn more about this teaser soon. Would you like to see Black Mask in live-action?

YESSS! Bring on Roman Sionis!

If Ayer is planning on using Black Mask as the villain for Gotham City Sirens, then that probably means that there is another player pulling the stings in THE BATMAN.

Sionis was one of the handful of people with the means to hire Deathstroke. With the rumors of The Batman being similar to Arkham Asylum, my guess is that the main villain is Dr. Hugo Strange.

My choice would be Rory Kinnear as Dr. Hugo Strange from Penny Dreadful. One of the best Shakespearean actors, and he killed it as Frankenstein's monster on Penny Dreadful.

@sKeemAn - He's truly an underrated actor. Hell, the whole Penny Dreadful cast is. The fact that Penny Dreadful (and Hannibal) never won any Emmy's is just insane.

@Kr08 - I always thought he would make a great penguin.

@Kr08 - The Joker has the means. Guy was once a nuclear arms dealer in the comics plus in the film world he has a purple Lamborghini.

@Kr08 -

I think they would be better making Luthor the one who hired Deathstroke. That way it's still somewhat tied to the events of BvS and it could actually make people more acceptant of the character by having Luthor become a sort of 'Kingpin' like character that hires villains to attack the heroes.

This would work well because i can't really see the DCEU deciding to go the robotic suit route with Lex and i think that Lex is more suited to being a sort of 'spoilt rich kid' so him using his money to try to take down the heroes would be interesting.

Yes, go back to grounded stuff, Ayer!

This is what you're good at.

No more "End Of The World" type scenarios.

This is perfect.

@heisei24 - This is his "we're sorry" gift from WB, I think.

But if Black Mask has a skull shaped tattoo with the word "Gangster" or "BlackGate" on it, I'm done..

With this, and Bright, I'm completely more interested in Ayer's future than I was back in August..

Lets hope they don't disappoint.
