Chris Pratt Confirms Final Talks For JURASSIC WORLD; Talks GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Audition
Thanks to his physical transformation for Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt says that Jurassic World is indeed one of many career possibilities that wouldn't exist in his heavier days. Check it out!
After playing against aliens in Marvel's “rocking, space opera-type story,” Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt's next big thing will be taking on dinosaurs in Universal's “new sci-fi terror adventure,” Jurassic World. Talking with the press for Delivery Man and about his tremendous weight loss for Guardians, the actor confirmed being in final negotiations to lead the Jurassic Park sequel. “I know I want to do it and I know the director (Colin Trevorrow) wants me to do it,” reveals Pratt. “So now it's just a matter of everyone coming together and making sure it can work.”
Pratt further admits that new career possibilities like Jurassic World wouldn't exist if it weren't for the 66 pounds he gained for Delivery Man, and then lost for Guardians of the Galaxy. “I am really glad I have lost the weight since so it can be a choice,” he says. “I am now in contention for roles no one would have considered me for before. James Gunn believed I was that guy (Star-Lord) - I just didn't look like him yet. I was still about 280 pounds. They said: be honest with us. Do you think you can get in shape? I said I know I can.”
Considering his body a prop, Chris Pratt believes strongly that his appearance attributes to one third of his performance, how he sounds accounts for another third, and lastly “the rhythm of my spirit.” Looking back on his Guardians audition, Pratt says “I felt like my sound and my spirit was there. I had five months to work on the body.” The actor also commented, “If I was 300 pounds right now and I told people I had gained weight for Delivery Man they would be like yeah: that was a year ago, you are just fat.” Very true. What do you think?
Anyhow, Guardians of the Galaxy, directed by James Gunn, will be released on August 1st, 2014. In Jurassic World, Chris Pratt will star as “a rugged ex-military man,” and Bryce Dallas Howard will play a “smart corporate scientist,” with Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson playing her nephews. Directed by Colin Trevorrow & produced by Steven Spielberg, the film will release on June 12, 2015!
