Kree vs. Skrull? I think it's possible.

Editorial Opinion

Alright. None of us have seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet (well at least most of us have not) but I think if we piece some things together we could potentially figure out what the sequel is about. In a very recent interview, James Gunn said on the reason the Sakaraan are used in the film instead of other alien races: "...of those prominent alien races, suchas the Kree and the Skrull, I have some very specific ideas for where those races go." So obviously he and the heads of Marvel like Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have though this out and have a plan. I think the plan goes something like this: In Avengers: Age of Ultron we know that Andy Serkins has a role, but that has yet to be specified. I'm calling it as the Super Skrull and he will appear in the mid or end credits scene -- setting the stage for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

The Kree will already be introduced through Guardians of the Galaxy (ala Ronan.) Perhaps, after being defeated, Ronan will go back to Hala, finding it under attack by the Thanos led Skrulls. Maybe as punishment to Ronan, maybe just because Thanos wants to conqure all and found that he could not through our Accuser,so he elicits the help of the Skrulls. With Hala under attack, Ronan could go to the only group he knows could help the Krees' cause: the Guardians of the Galaxy. So Kree vs. Skrull hints the title War of Kings.

After the Guardians help Ronan and the Kree out and drive Thanos and the Skrull away, they go to Earth to attack again (because the Chitauri didn't work out) and thus sets the stage for Avengers 3.

Maybe this is all the furthest thing from the truth, but maybe -- just maybe -- this is the ground work for Phases 3 and 4. With an emphasis on the Kree, we could see a Captain Marvel movie or just a slew of Guardians of the Galaxy sequels.

As much as I would love this, I do believe that the Skrulls are under the fantastic 4 movie rights. But I may be mistaken.

The Super Skrull has got to be fantastic 4 at least, mainly because it is so tied to those comics. If Marvel Studios have one, it would be the average Skrull and Fox would have the Super Skrulls.

speculation fail.....sorry buddy...i think theres so many more probable possibilities to go with for gotg2 than the skulls...especially with all these infinity stones running around that need to be introduced.

@Nova I hope they do destroy Xandar...just I'm thinking it will probably be in a Nova movie...But for gotg2 i think Warlock will show up and they will do some sort of Infinity Watch mixed with fellowship of the ring type thing and finally get that Infinity Gauntlet created.

Yeah the infinity theme is the arcing plot at the moment but after Phase 3 I think the cosmic side of things will definitely do a version of Annihilation (& Conquest)...

Cant wait.

War of Kings was about Kree vs Shi'ar, not Skrulls.

Annihilators are definitely awesome, too bad Fox has two of them!!! I'm not saying revert the rights, just sad we won't get Gladiator or Silver Surfer.

It sounds to me like the Skrulls are being replaced by the Nova Corps/Zandarians as the race that has been at war with the Kree for countless generations.

I hope thats not the case, but from what I've read so far, that is the case.

What would be cool is if the Skrulls were introduced for the first time in a Secret Invasion kind of way.

Forget the Kree in their story, just have them try to infiltrate earth and explain that they are doing it because the believe the earth is rightfully theirs.

Kill a character and have them revert to a Skrull as our first introduction to who them.

Gladiator would own Superman in a fight.

Gladiator might be strong, but Superman is in another league. Also the guy needs to have full confidence to even think of taking on DCs premier superhero. Don't think he'll be able to give Superman hell, a good fight maybe.

Something like this for a cliffhanger?

DeusEx

Gladiator is definitely in the same league as Superman and has all of his same powers. Not to mention, he's a member of the Imperial Guard. The shit he has seen in service? It woukd take a whole hell of a lot for Superman to break that guy's confidence, and considering that he's got the same powers as Superman, I'm not so sure Supes would be able to pull out anything that would make Gladiator say, "holy crap! I can't do that!"

They'll do that after they do a Ms. Marvel movie. The 2nd GOTG movie will be "GOTG: Annihilation."
