'Ronan The Accuser' Won't Be Back in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2, But May Still Return

Lee Pace (The Hobbit) recently made it clear that he hopes to return as Ronan the Accuser in a future instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and while James Gunn has confirmed it won't happen in the sequel, he may still reappear! Hit the jump for details on that and more...

James Gunn too part in a pretty innovative live Q&A on Facebook last night, answering fan questions while they watched Guardians of the Galaxy at home. There were a lot of interesting bits of info revealed, with one fan asking the director about Lee Pace's comments about reprising the role of Ronan the Accuser (despite his apparent death). "Who knows," he replied. "But not in 2, no. Perhaps someday." That's obviously very vague, but many fans were disappointed to see Ronan killed off, especially as he goes through something of a redemptive story arc in the comic books. When and if that will happen remains to be seen, but Gunn has big plans regardless! "I knew what gotg2 was essentially going to be about halfway through shooting. I basically have plans for three other stories connected to Guardians if I stay with marvel that long." What do you think?

I really didn't like GotG. I know I'm in small company, I didn't think it was a bad movie, it just seemed unnecessary. Maybe the second one will be better.

I wonder how they would bring him back, considering he got disintegrated...

Lee Pace was awesome as Ronan. When he spoke, I got chills. Would've liked to see more of him in the movie though. I think he'll be back for Infinity Wars, and he'll betray Thanos and team up with the Avengers and Guardians to beat Thanos.

I hope not, he was terrible. It'd be more interesting if they tried to tell a better story, with better comedy, and more interesting characters

I saw that in the Hall of Shame. I laughed that slightly-under-the-breath pathetic laugh that people do when something is too ridiculous.

Horrible villain. A new low for Marvel Studios which is shocking.

I would be down for Ronan returning in part 1 or 2 but yeah Gunn would be wise to stay with Marvel's money bags as long as possible. Pull the Whedon and make your own movies between Marvel movies.

I would like to see Lee Pace reprise his role as Ronan. He is Kree so I'm sure they can come up with some good reason for him to return. He could be in Infinity War...

How dare you calling him disintegrated?
It's just that his atoms are floating around in space right now and someday they will decide that it's the best for every atom to have companions.
Hence the rebirth of Ronan as a good guy.

I'm Canadian...but I love baseball. Go Jays!

@SauronsBANE @Cles

It was fettastic...not sure what got up his ass.

And Saurons...You didn't miss much. It was about Scherzer's giant contract and some up and coming pitching prospects. And making fun of Milwaukee.

I would be down for a flashback scene. Maybe to set up the next bad guy we have a brief flashback to explain his or her origin, and Ronan is in the background. But I don't want to see a reincarnated Ronan, perfectly reconstructed after getting atomized, giving the team trouble. Ronan wasn't an interesting-enough character to deserve to be resurrected.

to the people saying but he was disintegrated you do realise that he was disintegrated in a universe that has a weapon that can destroy the universe with a click of ones fingers or say bring people back to life.

Been thinking about the last scene of GOTG.
It's hillarious.
It's like Gunn couldn't work it out and said:
"[frick] it!I'll just have them holding hands and burn him with weird science."

@Merc Heh, I've been talking with a fellow Yankee fan buddy of mine, he was convinced the Yanks were still in the running for Scherzer all along. I've been trying to explain to him that giving a strikeout/power pitcher a massive long-term contract is a huge mistake (CC Sabathia, anyone?), but he won't listen to reason haha.

Nationals rotation is stacked though, no doubt.
CaptainObvious

I was disappointed that he was such a boring, personality-free, one-dimensional villain. The only worse than making a villain a terrible character is not even trying to make the villain a character.

How anybody could possibly like or even defend Ronan's depiction in this movie is beyond me.
