Over the past few days, there have been rumblings on social media that Will Poulter (The Maze Runner) could be set to take on the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Writer and director James Gunn usually debunks these things, but he's yet to comment. That doesn't mean it's true, of course!
Now, though, Cosmic Circus has weighed in by claiming that, after checking with their sources, there could be something to this story.
It's certainly not confirmed at this stage, but the site points out that Poulter did drop out of Amazon's The Lord of the Rings TV series due to "scheduling conflicts." Could that be because he's heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? While production on the show's first season wouldn't clash with the Guardians of the Galaxy threequel, the second season would.
The last movie laid the groundwork for Adam Warlock to become an antagonist to the Guardians, though this is a character who could play a major role in this shared world moving forward. Poulter would certainly be an interesting choice for this role, and not who many fans would likely expect to see play the hero.
We'll have to wait and see if this proves to be correct, but it would make sense based on what's revealed here. Gunn has hinted that Vol. 3 is likely to be the final adventure for this iteration of the team, so we're expecting this to be an emotional story with or without Warlock.
Do you think Poulter would be a good fit for Adam Warlock in the MCU?
