A leaked listing of upcoming Funko Pops for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special may reveal an unexpected cameo in the Disney+ spinoff which could have major consequences for GOTG Vol. 3...

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos threw Gamora to her death in order to secure the Soul Stone. It was a heartbreaking moment and one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most shocking scenes. While fans were upset to say goodbye to the hero, Avengers: Endgame found a way to bring Gamora back, though she's a 2014 Variant with no memory of the Guardians.

The expectation is that James Gunn will further expand on the character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but could this Gamora return before then? That's the prevailing theory based on a leaked list of Funko Pops that includes Gamora's name.

Based on the set photos we've seen, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will take place on Earth. Remember, she was left stranded there after the Mad Titan was defeated, so it could be that this standalone story will both feature the team embarking on a Christmastime adventure and reuniting with their old ally.

That will save some time in Vol. 3, anyway, though it's always possible these are just Holiday-themed Pops being released to coincide with the special's debut on Disney+.

With the Guardians of the Galaxy threequel set to be released in theaters next May, we know this streaming spinoff is coming our way this Holiday season. With that in mind, we're bound to get some official reveals soon, and a trailer probably isn't that far off. Expect that first look to provide some much-needed clarification on exactly what story Gunn plans to tell here.

Check out the leaked listing below and stay tuned for the latest on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special!

You cant relegate such an important key point of Guardians 3 to a freaking holiday special.

@TheHumanSpider2 - Whose to say it isn't in a flashback scene from a prior Christmas? Or just a Flashback scene from something completely different that isn't Christmas?

@SonOfAGif - "Remember, she was left stranded there after the Mad Titan was defeated, so it could be that this standalone story will both feature the team embarking on a Christmastime adventure and reuniting with their old ally"

That would be my problem.
Gamora present on a flashback (Quill probably remembering how they celebrated their first Christmas)? I'm ok with that.

@TheHumanSpider2 - (Quill probably remembering how they celebrated their first Christmas) or even maybe a hallucination type of sequence where someone in NY reminds him of her and he sort of visually sees her. Similar to how Obi Wan thought he saw Anakin but it was a mirage of sorts.

I guess it makes sense Gamora is still on Earth, as she has no way of getting off Earth. Rather just have this be about Guill reuniting with his family though

@bkmeijer1 - Quill back on Earth is a huge deal for the character, and open the possibility for pretty emotional moments in the special...I think he could reach for his grampa (who James Gunn confirmed was still alive).

@TheHumanSpider2 - that would definitely feel fitting for a Christmas movie (special in this case). Going from not wanting/grumpy to finally embracing. Doesn't get more Christmas spirit than that

@TheHumanSpider2 - Technically, Quill already was on Earth during Endgame when they beat Thanos. Wasn't he? I'm trying to remember that end scene when all the dusted heroes came back, but I really don't remember Quill there. But I've only seen the movie in full one time. It's not a movie I really enjoyed. But I've gotta think he was. Everyone else made their return there.

But it always did make me wonder why Quill never returned to Earth. I mean, I get that he has no family or friends there, but still. It feels weird to me that in all the years he was out in space he never attempted to visit his home world. And as much as he loved his music, I could totally see him going back, if for nothing else than to get more music lol.

@CorndogBurglar - He was, and the fact they didnt do anything with that was...such a wasted oportunity.
Quill doesnt want to return to Earth because it reminds him of his mother, he tells that to EGO in Guardians 2.

@TheHumanSpider2 - Ah, okay. GotG2 is also a movie I only watched once because I didn't really like it that much. It was better than Endgame and had some cool moments, but overall it was boring for me and I didn't like the story. Also felt disappointed with Ego and the villains overall.

@CorndogBurglar - I'm a big James Gunn fun, but Guardians 2 second act is really boring, that movie has serious pacing issues.

GotG is such a weird franchise. Even though I wish Quill was more like his comic version, I still really enjoy the MCU version. Same with Drax. And the fact that Groot has spent most of his MCU time as a child/teenager. Even with all these drastic changes, I still really enjoy the characters.

I loved the first movie. Didn't care much for the second one. Yet I still love this team in the MCU. Normally I would hate all these big changes. But they really work in the MCU. It's sad to think GotG3 will be the last time we see this incarnation of the team.

What makes you think Gamora is still on Earth? Are all the Ravagers still on earth? Is Howard the Duck still on Earth? We now know sorcerers can open portals across star systems, so Gamora could be anywhere.

@tvor03 - I was hoping Doctor Strange in the Multiverse established how sorcerer's can open portals from different planets. It would have been cool if some aliens were sorcerers on their planets.

still betting that Mantis is involved in Gamora and Quill getting back together. she will do some head touchy thing that will share Quills feelings or memories with Gamora or something along those lines.
