VIDEO GAMES: Is This The Plot Of Telltale's Upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Series?

One of the most highly anticipated video games on the way in 2017 has to be Telltale Games' Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, the first plot details may have been revealed alongside the title's lead hero.

It was late last year that we learned Telltale Games is working on an episodic Guardians of the Galaxy series, and while the story has been shrouded in secrecy (all we really know is that it appears to be taking inspiration from both the comics and movie), the first details may have now been revealed.

In a listing on retailer GameStop, a synopsis has been posted which drops some hints about the plot!

"‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series’ delivers a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience."

Like most listings, this should be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being. After all, we don't know if it's come directly from Telltale or is something the site has written itself or even found online. That line-up of heroes was to be expected anyway, while the team attempting to find a powerful cosmic relic definitely sounds about right. However, it sounds like Star-Lord will be the only playable character!

That makes sense, but it would have been fun to shake things up a little by taking control of different members of the Guardians. However, keeping the focus on Peter Quill means players will be able to influence his relationship with the likes of Gamora and Groot, and that's definitely no bad thing.

Seems interesting. Would prefer a PSVR Marvel Game!

@TheArkhamKnight - VR? No thanks. VR will go the way of 3D entertainment very soon. The way motion controls went away before it.

I'm sure it will be good and all, but Marvel needs to go big with their games. They need an Arkham series type game to put them on the map. The new Spidey game is going to be phenomenal, since it's the creators of Infamous, but obviously it's not under the same umbrella I don't believe.

@Menks123 - Does the Spider-man game share some of the Infamous creative team? I know it's being made by Insomniac while Infamous was from Sucker Punch.

@Menks123 -
Not to be a buzzkill but the creators of Infamous aren't making Spider-Man PS4
Insomniac Games (The Guys making Spider-Man PS4) are the creators of Sunset Overdrive and Rachet & Clank

@BIGBMH - I'm sorry, I messed up with the companies. Insomniac made the Resistance series derp, my mistake. Still a good company.

But again, that's the kind of games that should be a priority for Marvel imo.

@Menks123 - Spider-Man is under the same umbrella I'm pretty sure. The head of Marvel gaming division was talking about the start of a shared gaming universe with Spidey as the first entry if I remember correctly

After Batman telltale who [frick]ing cares, it'll probably be a mediocre story where your choices make little to no difference aside from cosmetics. Thus giving no reason to playing it as opposed to watching someone else play it. Not to mention the glitches and crashes, like seriously, a point and click game uses up so much power the ps4 crashes? Come the [frick] on. Hell i'd take a guardians game in the style of disney infinity, cause that game was actually pretty fun, but telltale?

@Mrcool210 - At least they had the balls to make a supporting character one of the main villains this time around

Wolf Among Us is a masterpiece.

Walking Dead series is amazing.

Borderlands was nice.

Batman Telltale was shit to be honest. Fun at times. Story was just dumb.

So far Telltale is 3/4.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Batman Telltale was shit to be honest. Fun at times. Story was just dumb.

For a game format that is defined by storytelling more than traditional gameplay that's not good to hear. I liked TWD S1+2, Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands quite a lot, but the Batman game never really intrigued me (mostly I guess because of a certain growing general Batman fatigue). I did consider giving it a chance later on, but from the sound of it that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.
