"For The Honor Of Grayskull!" - Check Out The First Teaser For SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER

Netflix and DreamWorks have debuted our first look at some footage from their upcoming reboot, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. See Adora transform into the super-powered heroine after the jump...

Mattel may have thrown a spanner in Sony's plans for a new live-action Masters of the Universe movie, but He-Man's long-lost twin sister is set to return to her animated roots for a new Netflix reboot titled She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Following the promo poster and a couple of magazine scans that unveiled the character's new look, DreamWorks Animation has debuted a brief teaser promo for the show, giving us a first glimpse of Adora holding her Sword of Protection aloft and transforming into the legendary warrior of Etheria, She-Ra.

Check out the footage below and let us know what you think. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power fight for the honor of Grayskull when the series premieres on Netflix on November 16.

We also have a batch of recently released images from the show courtesy of EW, which give us a first glimpse of some of the new supporting character designs.

Adora

Princess Adora, a.k.a. She-Ra, who will be voiced by Aimee Carrero.

Showrunner Noelle Stevenson reveals that, like in the original 1985 series, Adora was kidnapped as a baby and raised with the Evil Horde, only to discover her true identity later in life.

"She’s been very sheltered her whole life and as she starts to experience the world, she realizes that there’s more to this than she knew, that maybe there’s a reason they were called the Evil Horde,” Stevenson laughs, “that maybe they were evil.”

Cat-Ra

The other characters aren't actually named in EW's report, but based on the costume colors and the fact that she, y'know, looks like a cat, we're going to assume that the grumpy-looking lady Adora is shown beside here is Cat-Ra (AJ Michalka).

This character was a villain in the original show, but that may not be the case with the reboot.

Glimmer And Bow

Again, based on the outfits and colors, we assume this is our first look at two of She-Ra's most trusted allies, Glimmer and Bow.

Glimmer was the original leader of the Great Rebellion of Etheria until Adora took over, and Bow (Marcus Scribner) is renowned as the best archer in all of Etheria. Three guesses what his horse is called?

Castle Bright Moon

A look at Castle Bright Moon, which is located in the capital of Etheria.

Ruled over by Queen Angella, Bright Moon is the seat of the monarchial government of the plane, and the headquarters of the Great Rebellion against the Evil Horde's occupation of Etheria

She-Ra

Another look at our heroine, as designed by Rae Geiger.

The first pic of The Princess was met with a mixed reaction, but this one should succeed in drumming up some hype for the upcoming reboot.

That's less worse than that Thundercats GO! teaser, but that wasn't exactly a high hurdle.

@Reeds2Much - I just wonder if these reboots will be remebered for 30 years like the previous.

@Fogs - Unlikely. Most shows are always remembered for the original even if the original was bad.
The original Power Rangers and TMNT cartoon were both pretty bad but almost everyone remembers those over the reboots.
The only reboot I can remember recently that became more popular and known then the original is MLP

@shadowspider9 - I wish that she-ra was like this pretty good reboot

@shadowspider9 - The original TMNT was amazing. It's the reboots that suck, except the Nickelodeon one. The writing on that was very impressive. Power Rangers Green with Evil arc was amazing, as well. It's only bad, because you got older and can't enjoy it anymore. Hint, don't try to watch the original Transformers (not the movie) or Thundercats. Just don't.

@Luminus - I'm sorry but no. There are plenty of cartoons from my youth I can still enjoy. Darkwing Duck, X-men, Batman, Ducktales, Spiderman, Tiny Toons and more.

But not TMNT or Power Rangers. And believe me I've tried. The acting in the original Power Rangers is horrible and beyond cheesy and the plots are almost all crap. Green with Evil is the only story arch of the original that still holds up.
And the original TMNT is just stupid. The animation is almost Hanna Barbara levels low budget, the plots are ridiculous even by TMNT standards, it's riddled with animation errors, and after the first five episode the turtles aren't allowed to use there weapons are all the fighting are slap stick.

@shadowspider9 - I tried to watch re-watch Batman. Several times. Couldn't do it. You got me with X-Men, but I love Marvel, so there might be a bias. As for Power Rangers, I was referring ONLY to the Green with Evil episode, which you agree with. When have the cartoon Turtles EVER used their weapons on non-robots?

Also, all of your criticisms are adult criticisms. "Low budget," "plot," "animation error." These are not things children say or even think of.

@shadowspider9 - I never liked Darkwing Duck. I have Ducktales DVDs, but wasn't able to get through them (although, I'm stilling waiting for the digital seasons to drop). I haven't tried to re-watch Spider-Man or Tiny Toons; however, Tiny Toons is part of that whole Bugs Bunny world, which trends toward adult. Around the first time I saw Bugs Bunny cartoons, an adult was watching it. He had a bunch of VHS tapes of those cartoons. This is actually the same for Batman.

@Luminus - TMNT 2012. They use there weapons against non robot opponents all the time. Same with the 2003 cartoon. The rule with weapons is it's ok so long as you don't show red blood. Meaning they can use there weapons against robots, aliens, to destroy weapons and objects. Just as long as they don't cut humans.
But the 87 show didn't even do that even though they establish right out of the gate the foot are robots.

Low budget, bad plot and animation error are important because they affect the show's ability to last and how it's remembered.
Few remember the 87 turtles as something good. They remember it as something that was very popular but embarrassingly bad. Just about every new incarnation goes out of it's way to make fun of how bad it was.

If 03 turtles hadn't gone as dark as it did and had simply done the same weirdness of the 87 show I'm not sure it would have lasted. In fact the 87 shows rating tanked after Power Rangers came along and stole it's thunder and they tried to save it by making the last two seasons it a lot darker

It also wouldn't say Loony Toons trends toward adults. Loony Toons is a generational thing you can enjoy at any age. I watched it a ton as a kid and still enjoy it today. Same for my dad. He grew up on it and still find it funny.

That's really the difference between something like the 87 TMNT and something like Loony Toons. Both are over the top somewhat mindless humor but Loony Toons holds up 70 years later. 87 turtles does not.

@shadowspider9 -

No one makes that for something that isn't revered.

@Luminus - Fans also almost unanimous agree the worst thing about Turtles Forever was the representation of the 87 turtles. Who were treated like jokes.

Don't really like the art style but it seems like nice animation and the story will actually be taken seriously which is great.

I'll admit, She-Ra herself looks a little better.

@KoolerThanJesus - Seems like She-Ra was the American answer to Japanese 'magical girl' anime/manga.

Looks decent. Animation style seems very inspired by Cartoon Saloon's Secret of the Kells/Song of the Sea/The Breadwinner. I dig it.

So no He-Man traveling there to find his sister and give her the sword? 🤷‍♂️👎

@AnthonyVonGeek - that is my big worry too. If the show is well done, it might be a nice watch, but erasing Adora's background takes half the soul out of this.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Don't jump to any conclusions just yet. For all we know, they could be taking the approach of Supergirl.

@FlixMentallo21 - I’m not hating I’m just disappointed that they might not include her brother. He was an important part of inspiring her to be good and leaving out the brother sister arc is not a smart move to me. I hope it’s good for others though. If it finds an audience that’s awesome.
