David Harbour, best known for his role as Hopper in the runaway hit Stranger Things, recently gave a wonderful interview with Variety. While most of the interview focuses on a number of ST-related topics, such as his training to into "dad bod" shape for Hopper, and how in the world he'll top that impassioned speech at the SAG Awards, Harbour did let a little bit of info about his upcoming starring role in Hellboy slip through the cracks.
Early into the article, Harbour speaks of his work on the upcoming reboot, confirming that the production has officially wrapped. Of the shoot he says, "It was hard. I'm 40 years old, and I'm running around punching giants."
The "punching giants" line possibly hints at some details of the plot. In the world of Hellboy, Giants were a race that once dominated England, and are a central figure to the ninth collected volume of the comic, The Wild Hunt. Is it possible that Harbour is confirming the film takes inspiration from this story arc?
As for being in shape to play Big Red at 40 years old, Harbour will be shedding the abs for his more familiar figure in Sreanger Things season 3: "I've already started the donut traning. Six donuts a day! We'll get there, folks."
The HELLBOY reboot is still a little over a year away with a release date of January 11, 2019, but this news should mean that we'll be seeing more about the flick sooner rather than later.
