Even just after two films, Jordan Peele has established himself a prominent voice in blockbuster horror today. It only makes sense that Universal would have their eyes set on Peele for their next Universal Monsters film after the success of Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man.
While this comes from an older Patreon post from Daniel Richtman, the same report linked Ryan Gosling to an untitled monster film, which was confirmed to a month later to be The Wolfman. Which surely adds a lot of credence to this current report.
It appears that Peele’s untitled film is looking to snag Will Smith (Bad Boys For Life) as its lead. Will Smith has briefly dipped his toe slightly into the horror genre in I Am Legend, but a straight horror film is an unproven ground for the actor. Smith is known for relying on his natural charisma in films without really sinking his teeth into a character that would make a collaboration with Jordan Peele a much more exciting prospect.
Just last year, Universal signed Peele on for a five year, first-look deal. The studio will also produce Peele's next two movies, and it is possible this may just be one of those upcoming projects planned.
