NOSFERATU: The Terrifying First Trailer For Robert Eggers' Horror Remake Has Leaked Online

The first trailer for Robert Eggers' Nosferatu is now playing in theatres ahead of The Bikeriders, but, as we figured it would, the footage has been leaked online...

"He is coming..."

We had a feeling this might happen after learning that the first trailer for Robert Eggers' highly-anticipated remake of horror classic Nosferatu was set to play in front of The Bikeriders this weekend, and sure enough, the teaser has leaked online.

We're sure some of you would rather wait and see it on the big screen, but if you're interested in a cam-quality version, have at it.

The trailer appears to be quite similar to the footage that debuted during CinemaCon back in April, but with a few additional shots.

We see Lily-Rose Depp's Ellen Sutter praying by candlelight. “Come to me, come to me, hear my call,” she intones before a hand reaches out to grab her neck. Ellen then asks Willem Dafoe's character, Van Helsing substitute Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, whether evil "comes from within us, or beyond."

From there, there are moody shots of the Count's castle, rats scurrying across cobblestones, frightened villagers with wooden stakes at the ready, and Thomas Sutter (Nicholas Hoult) and Friedrich Harding (Aaron Taylor Johnson) looking suitably unsettled.

As for Bill Skarsgård's titular undead nobleman, Count Orlok, we only catch a very quick glimpse of the vampire sinking his fans into an unfortunate victim's neck, and another as he slowly turns around to face the camera.

During a recent interview, Eggers noted that Skarsgård completely lost himself in the role, and was even more "unrecognizable" as the vampire than he was under the prosthetics that allowed him to bring Pennywise to life in the It movies..

"There are things that are Schreck-like but I felt we had to do something else," said The Northman director. "Basically I was like, 'What would a dead Transylvanian nobleman actually look like for real?' Bill lost a tremendous amount of weight."

"He’s so transformed in every aspect that I don’t know if people will give him the credit," the filmmaker went on. "You can see Bill [as Pennywise] in the It make-up; you can’t detect any Bill here. He worked with an opera coach to lower his voice an octave. I think people are going to think we treated it digitally, but that’s his performance."

F.W. Murnau directed the original 1922 classic, while Werner Herzog helmed a rather bizarre 1979 remake. The story is loosely based on Dracula, but there are several key differences.

"Nosferatu tells a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him."

Nosferatu was recently given an official release date, and will arrive on Christmas Day, 2024.

Saw Bikeriders. Jodie Comer wants to be the next Reese Witherspoon yet fails spectacularly. Tom Hardy's really good, though.

@Vigor - the fact the trailer says "he's coming" like 30 times that is make an inappropriate joke about it.
Apparently, it didn't land.

@SuperCat - Pretty much my same sentiment. I do hope the movie is good and won't try to typically romanticize some BS with the vampire and the girl. Been sick of that nonsense for years.

@TheLight - Same here! Hopefully we'll get a gory horror flick, but my expectations are low.

I saw The Bikeriders yesterday pretty Boring Start to Finish nothing but Drama Queen Jerks talking. I also saw Nosferatu trailer pretty boring nothing Terrifying in it. Let's hope the second trailer is better.

The movie feels like an Uncooked omelet. It's a first act, third act, and nothing in between just Dull.

@AllsGood - That's what I've heard. A strong performance from Butler, but not much else. Ah well.

@clintthahamster - I didn't like any of the characters in this movie including Butler. Butler character does something in this movie that made me hate him. I can't tell you without spoiling the movie.

@bobevanz - Original movies doesn't mean they are all good. I'm not watching something that I'm not interested in, whether it's an original movie or not lol.

This looks awesome. Just be prepared for when this releases people are going to say it's just ripping off the Dracula story, because they have no idea what the original Nosferatu was.

@Vigor - Facts. I think he is a very capable actor of doing so. Needs to shake that goof-ball title off him much like Jim Carrey and Robin Williams did with a couple of roles

I'm starting to believe a lot of these "leaks" are actually studio directed to create hype about an upcoming movie.

Sure some are people desperate to be "first", but its just to coincidental how these things happen. And it would make sense. A leak comes out and some fans go rabid trying to confirm and it becomes the talk of the town.
