Variety is reporting that Rufus Sewell (Dark City) will be playing the role of lead vampire villain: Adam, in 20th Century Fox's adaption of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The plot revolves around the president's quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as the real conflict behind the Civil War.

Being co-produced by Bekmambetov with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter stars Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Alan Tudyk, and Jimmi Simpson. The film will be shot in 3D starting in March, and is scheduled for a June 22, 2012 release.

Ah, I love Dark City! But that's because the first time I watched it I missed the first few minutes WHEN THEY GIVE AWAY THE WHOLE FREAKING PLOT!

When you miss that part it's a WAY better movie! You're like "Holy Crap! What the hell is going on? This is creepy! This is AWESOME!"

When you actually watch it from the beginning, it loses a lot.

Rufus Sewell's great. Dark City's fantastic. I feel bad for anyone who hasn't seen it.

@ironknight - yes, he stole the show from Ledger in that one.

He may not be Zod, but he'd make a great Brainiac!

Thought so. I love that movie. "You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you were found wanting."

Rufus can do no wrong in my book - the man's absolutely BRILLIANT! Is it just me though, or does he seem to land a LOT of villian roles? Type-casting, anyone? What do you all think?

Sweet. This cast is shaping up nicely. Sewell's a very under-rated actor. Has he never actually played a vampire before? It seems so natural.
