WORLD WAR Z Sequel Eyeing Summer Start Date With Brad Pitt Set To Return & David Fincher Directing

It's been a long time since we received any sort of World War Z update and it sounds like the film will finally go into production next summer with Brad Pitt set to return and David Fincher directing!

It's been nearly a year since 2x Academy Award-nominee David Fincher officially signed on to helm Paramount's World War Z sequel and while it was initially expected to roll cameras at the top of this current calendar year, nothing ever came to fruition as Fincher instead opted to focus on directing the second season of his acclaimed Netflix series Mindhunter and Pitt signed on to star in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

As a result, the perpetually in-development sequel was pushed back to an undetermined future date, which is rarely good news, but now, according to a new update, it sounds like cameras may actually start rolling as soon as next summer.

While speaking with producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner at the Beautiful Boy premiere earlier this week, Variety learned that the studio currently has plans to begin filming in June 2019 and that both Brad Pitt and David Fincher are still very much attached as star and director, respectively. Further details weren't provided, but this is certainly the most promising news WWZ fans have received in months.

Had no interest in this... but with Fincher onboard, hmmmmmm.

This may be a unique case of the sequel being better than the original. They didn't rush it, and got Fincher to direct. I'll give it a chance.

First was meh. Premise has always been cool. Fincher should be able to make something unique.

Needs to be rated r and a little scarier.

The first one was entertaining, but could have been much better. Cautiously excited for this...need a good zombie film, and ones with the fast ones like 28 days later.

Those little shits are freaky lmao.

I root for WWZ.

If nothing else, the original showed that Re-Shoots aren’t a death sentence for films as it re-worked a basically 1/3 and still received a Fresh RT Score and solid Box Office Receipts.

I am curious how much they will acknowledge the first film...

- Antidote to blind Humans from Zombies
- Zombies running at hyper speed
- Gerry’s family.

If I had to guess...

- Antidote has proven to be ineffective with new breed of Zombies.
- As Zombies get older they get slower.
- Gerry’s wife and possible 1 if not both kids are killed. Leaving him really in a dark spot when we open the film.

I am intrigued where Fincher will take this.

The movie was so different from the book. I was not really a fan of the first. But with Fincher on board (finally) for the second, I'm a bit more interested.

Like, seriously, what is this BS?
