Kevin Feige Discusses the Future of the Hulk

This interview conducted on April 12th, but released yesterday, shows that he was already changing his tune on the Hulk's sequel prospects.

There was quite a bit of disappointed groaning when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that there were no plans for a Hulk sequel. But that quickly turned to confusion when news broke that Marvel Studios were looking at a new film in 2015.

Well thanks to an interview with Cinema Blend, we now know that this was not exactly a sudden 180 degree turn, but a gradual change of heart...

What are the future plans for Hulk?
"There are not a lot of plans going forward. The plan was make an Avengers movie where people like yourself came out of it saying, “I love the Hulk!” If we’ve done that, that is a huge achievement. We have, as you can imagine, many, many options with Mark Ruffalo, so we’ll start to figure out when and what that will be. We’ve announced the 2013 movies, we’ve announced one of the 2014 movies – the second 2014 movie is not going to be a Hulk movie. So we’ll see if and when we can put it together. Frankly, it took a lot of time to get this version of the Hulk. So we’re not going to turn around and rush something and undo all that good will. So we’ll see, but the first step is being very encouraged and hoping that when the world sees the movie they react the same way to the Hulk."

However, there was one disappointing note for some of you... when asked if Mark Ruffalo would be playing the Hulk in the live-action tv show, his response was a simple "No."

For much more info, including why Marvel is expanding to fall and spring releases and if Feige worries about superhero over-saturation, check out the article at the source link.

@grif I think he was being honest when he said they didn't have plans. It's just that not having them doesn't mean they can't make them later.

They'll wait and see how close to a billion they get before placing anymore eggs in 2014's basket.. More Hulk seems inevitable though at the moment.

Guys I think he has a point here. Would youj rather they just turn around and rush it ruining everythingthey have accomplished or take the time to figure out where they went right and give us a fantastic Hulk film?

After the success of Avengers film version of the Hulk..they should cancel the TV version they are planning..especially if it doesn't tie into the marvel movie U ..instead of canceling a good EMH toon!!...stupid!

sure..taking time to do a really great job is commendable and all that, BUT...mark ruffalo ain't gettin' any YOUNGER. and who knows..he'll stumble upon another HUGE, franchise-building or/and a series of critically-acclaimed/Oscar-winning role(s)...i wonder, if he'll still see the Hulk as his HAMLET. i highly DOUBT it.

I am pretty sure that the second 2014 film will be Dr. Strange or Guardians of the Galaxy. Ant Man will probably be released in 2014 too, but in November or December.

He's actually right...There's no point in rushing the character after it being done so well in the Avengers. Wait a little bit, take their time crafting a really good follow up and do the Hulk justice
