Newsarama are live blogging with Jeph Loeb as he discusses Marvel's in development TV plans. So far he has offered the following exciting updates. First the live action Hulk series from Guillermo Del Toror. Apparently "Del Torro's Hulk will resemble the Avengers movie Hulk as closely as possible"..

"I'm very, very confident that the Hulk you're going to see when we finally get on the air on ABC, is going to look like something other than us putting a lot of paint on Lou Ferrigno"

Next up is AKA Jessica Jones which will be based on Brian Michael Bendis' Marvel MAX comic Alias. Loeb confirms that both Luke Cage and Carol Danvers will feature. He also offers up brief updates on two more Marvel TV shows. He says Cloak & Dagger will take place in post-Katrina New Orleans and the premise of Mockingbird will be: "by day, a student, by night a secret-agent-in-training. Loeb calls it "Alias mixed together with Felicity."

Thanks to Rimbreaks for the heads up.

Has anyone heard of any casting choices yet....i wonder if Mark Ruffalo will play Banner, seeing as the Hulk has similarities to 'The Avengers' version? Unlikely i know.

Del Toro says that his Hulk won't be connected to be the movie version, so I'd be surprised if Ruffalo plays him.

This would be the PERFECT oppurtunity to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe

From what I understand, Del Toro has been given free reign on the project, meaning he can do whatever he wants with the story, and considering that he's specifically stated that the character will be reinterpreted as a man in his 20's with a different origin story, it's unlikely that this will be connected to the MCU in any way. When Jeph Loeb said that the Hulk would closely resemble the version that we'll be seeing in "The Avengers", he probably meant that it would look similar for the sake of consistency considering how many distinct live-action versions for the Hulk we've seen.

Wow, Mockingbird is out of left field, huh? Wasn't Alias (the TV series) already Mission: Impossible meets Felicity?

I honestly think they could adequately render a CG Hulk on a weekly basis, if he's in the episodes for a certain amount of time.Probably 70% Banner and 30% Hulk.Or whatever.

If you look at shows like Terra Nova, Primeval or Merlin where they render dinosaurs, prehistoric creatures and dragons every week, it can be done.Given the budget and enough production time.

@tazmaniak Although it could be expensive, I wish they could bring in Weta Digital and do the Hulk in motion capture like what they're doing for "The Avengers" film.
LMB10
LMB10 - 10/15/2011, 2:12 PM
Surley if they used a slightly modified Avengers Hulk as the CGI render, then it wouldn't be that expensive

I Think its a big mistake to link everything to the movie. Who knows if Avenges will work? But also I m not a fan of CG when it comes to mimic human shape. Rather have the FX like the monster in 300. A new Hulk for the TV series would be a good idea.

"look like something other than us putting a lot of paint on Lou Ferrigno"

He dissed the weakest live-action interpretation so, HULK is going to be made like this;

@TopCat89

The actor to portray Bruce Banner in the Hulk tv series will be an actor in his mid to late 20's as announced when it was first introduced that Hulk was going back to tv.

it won't be Ruffalo. He is a movie star and Oscar winner.

Interesting, but I would prefer a Heroes for Hire series over a Jessica Jones series, but I'll check it out either way. I also wonder what happened with Marvel doing a Moon Knight TV series.

After that failed series about the dude and his magic robe, they may have scared away ideas of Cloak and Dagger and Moon Knight.

Mark Ruffalo received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2010 for the movie 'The Kids are All Right'

AKA Jessica Jones? ...Bad title...

Is she going to be running and flying around without clothes on? Probably not, because it's on ABC.

Here "begineth" the Dark Age of Marvel television.

Why Mockingbird ?. that isn't gonna work and will fail big time. On the other hand they have a character already to go for a tv seires..Agent Coulson would make a kick ass tv show. !!!!

bluehulk - 10/15/2011, 8:59 PM
Well i think they should have Ruffalo play him on the TV show since the hulk did well on TV but has done bad in the theaters the TV show could replace the movies. But hey if everyone likes him in the Avengers maybe they will make another Incredible Hulk movie. But only time will tell.
Tainted87
Tainted87 - 10/15/2011, 10:21 PM
Jessica Jones will be ok. Hulk will have people requesting off work or hurrying up so they can get off in time to see it. Mockingbird will tank. Cloak and Dagger will likely be cancelled after half a season.

If these characters' respective comic book series don't last more than 50 issues, then there's no chance they'll last more than a couple of months TOPS on tv.

this tv Hulk thing is really a strange idea...

i mean it's bad enough we have yet THREE different big screen versions of the man himself, within a decade..but, now a fourth?? unless Ruffalo will reprise the role in the series, which i HIGHLY DOUBT.

so, what..they're gonna cast yet another new guy as Banner? and will WETA digital be doing the CG hulk as well, like in The Avengers?? cuz less than that would suck.

i think after The Avengers, Marvel should just make another big screen Hulk movie with Ruffalo, Liv Tyler, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson and.. (maybe) Tim Roth.. and some new players. as long as they hire the right director and creative team, i think it will make a great movie. forget the tv show.

oh, by the way..i saw del toro's don't be afraid of the dark. it SUX...so i'm pretty disappointed at him right now. Pacific Rim better be damn good for me to being back as his fan.

I don't want to see a tv series that is Alias mixed together with Felicity. Still, I suppose I will have to watch it if only in the hope that other characters will show up.
tazmaniak
tazmaniak - 10/16/2011, 8:42 AM
@kooldeath, keep in mind that this is for ABC Family and their primary target are young females. They may really like having a female Marvel hero on TV.Also, because it's on cable, it only has to pull in around 2M viewers to stay on the air.Same goes for Cloak and Dagger.

I'm excited for Hulk and Jessica Jones, but a little worried because they will have to bring in bigger numbers than the ones on ABC Family.

@Hulk2008, while I don't think Mark Ruffalo is coming to TV, it's not outside the realm of possibility.Plenty of good film actors have taken TV jobs this season.Zooey Deschanel, Ashley Judd, Christina Ricci, Jason Isaacs, Kerry Washington, Patrick Wilson, Jim Caviezel, Michael Clarke Duncan, Josh Lucas and Maria Bello.
tazmaniak
tazmaniak - 10/16/2011, 8:51 AM
@mstaley3000, it's funny how they describe it as Alias mixed together with Felicity, because when Alias debuted, Abrams described it as if Felicity joined the CIA.

Because Alias is already Felicity mixed with a spy series, it's redundant to say Mockingbird is Alias mixed with Felicity.

And I too will watch because other characters will probably show up.There are tons of Marvel espionage related characters to incorporate, not to mention the characters associated with Mockingbird. And because they're all on ABC channels, there's always the possibilities of crossovers.

Should be interesting.

do a 5 series Hulk tv show set in between the opening credits of the Incredible Hulk & the point where Bruce flees to Brazil. Unfortunately it means no Leader or Abomination as a villain but Leader could be in a Hulk movie sequel

"AKA Jessic Jones" better have super powers. I mean seriously add that little twist, make it so she doesn't let people know about her strength.
