THR report that Chuck actress Yvonne Strahovski has signed up to star in Lakeshore/Lionsgate's I, Frankenstein as the female lead. Miranda Otto, who we would have seen starring in the Locke & Key TV series had it been picked up, has also signed on. According to the site..

Strahovski will play the female lead, a scientist working on reanimating the dead and tricked into working for demons seeking to create an army of the undead.

Otto is playing the queen of the gargoyles who wants to help Frankenstein.

The pretty out there sounding flick also stars Bill Nighy as the villain and Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstein (Frankenstein's monster?) himself. The movie is set to shoot in Australia this Winter.

Why Strahovski isn't Ms. Marvel yet, especially with Whedon on board, i'll never understand. Bunch of monkeys with their heads up their asses, calling the shots. Then again, aside from having a useless Black Widow star in the middle of a sausage fest, Marvel has made the best casting decisions in CBM history. Let's hope they don't fumble their lead.

I, Frankenstein combines the stories of Frankenstein's monster, the Invisible Man, Dracula and other iconic literary creatures into one and places them in the all-new context of Dark Haven. Death Ray Films, director Patrick Tatopoulos and Grevioux have teamed up to develop the story for the big screen. It's also a comic series from Darkstorm Comics, set for release later this year.
