ComicBook.com is reporting that the first issue of Invincible Iron Man has garnered over 200,000 pre-orders across the United States, and if those numbers are to be believed, indicates a massive relaunch for the ol' Shell-Head. The first of the All-New, All-Different Marvel wave of books to be released, the ongoing series from writer Brian Michael Bendis (All-New X-Men) and artist David Marquez (Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man) is expected to have the biggest debut of an Iron Man comic in years; Superior Iron Man #1 sold around 84,000 units in 2014, with the two preceding titles, Iron Man (2012) and Invincible Iron Man (2008), debuting at roughly 116,530 and 116,250 units, respectively.
The creative team appears to be one of the major reasons for the massive spike in pre-orders, with Bendis currently serving as one of Marvel's biggest writers. However, Dennis Barger of Wonderworld Comics also explains that Invincible Iron Man's role as the first title in Marvel's brand new universe may also be playing a large part. "They led the cinematic universe with Iron Man," he says, "and hopefully the new comic universe will be a great jumping on point for cinematic fans." Marvel hasn't confirmed the report, but Sales and Marketing SVP David Gabriel stated that the title "will be above and beyond all expectations." Below is Adi Granov's Invincible Iron Man #1 variant, which will be available when the series kicks off this October. Are you planning on picking it up?
