Jon Favreau Confirms 'Iron Man 3' and talks about 'The Avengers'!

The director of 'Iron Man 2' has confirmed that Iron Man will be a trilogy and that we may see the third film BEFORE 'The Avengers'!

The director told Movies Online, "There's an Iron Man 3. Here's how I know. When they make the option deals, they include Iron Man 3. So I know they're planning on 3. Whether that would be before or after Avengers, they've announced that Avengers is next but they pushed back The Avengers once, which I thought was encouraging."

Favreau did not confirm if he will be filming the proposed collaboration, adding: "My involvement has yet to be determined on that project. You're not going to know about Thor for two years, what that really means. And Captain America, they haven't even started prepping yet. So there's a lot of discovery that has to take place before you can understand what Avengers really is."

wow, Favreau works fast! (Raimi could learn a lesson or two from him!) I actually hope that we do get Iron Man 3 before The Avengers - it will give them chance to maybe introduce the Pym's and Hawkeye! Heck, if Iron Man 3 comes after the Captain America then maybe the film could feature Iron Man and co discovering him frozen in ice!!

The more marvel movies the better. Maybe there will be more characters introduced in each of the movies. This will be the best saga yet!!!!!! Now let's work on the big green guy! HULK SMASH!!!!!!

I hope it comes after the Avengers film, that way we can have the aftermath of whatever happens in Avengers.

Now we're talking! I was afraid they were rushing Avengers and putting it in danger of turning into a screw up! Slow and steady, boys! I think we need two Cap movies, three Iron Man flicks and two Thor pictures before we get to an Avengers film! The one franchise I would interrupt would be The Hulk, depending on the release date of Avengers. If The Avengers is pushed back any farther, then I'd consider making another Hulk sequel to follow up on the devlopments in The last Hulk film and capitolize on its momentum.

Gunsmith - I prefer Ang Lee's Hulk to Louis Letterier's version. The 2008 incarnation was good, but the fight with the Abomination was too short and anti-climactic; also it was waaaay too far into the movie when Blonsky turned into the Abomination!

I strongly feel that Lee's version was misunderstood by a lot of people -- he tried to make a psychological avant-garde film with some action, whereas a lot of people seemed to be expecting an all-out action summer blockbuster! It's a matter of taste!

I also think it's unfair to compare the FX of the two as Louis' was made 5 years later with more advances having been made, and the FX were more affordable and commonplace! Ang did the best that he could, and I, for one was satisfied! Lee had the burden of explaining the Hulk's origin and the cause of his rage, so it wasn't as easy for him to jump right into the action!

In the 2008 follow - up, the Hulk is STILL fighting the Army!!! How is this progress?! The U.S. military CANNOT defeat the Hulk! It's been established and reinforced COUNTLESS times!!! Blonsky needed to become the Abomination shortly after his second encounter with the Hulk; for me they just waited to long for a build up to a fight that wound up being disappointing!

When the Hulk claps, windows should shatter for 10 - 20 blocks! Instead, he uses his thunderclap to snuff out a small fire? What was that?! And why was the final battle even set in a city? The desert would've been fine with the fight eventually spilling over into a neighboring town! The Hulk is based in the American Southwest; what was he doing in Harlem?

I needed to see the Hulk do his famous shockwave stomp, and him pulling up the ground and creating an earth - ripple effect, etc. Ang Lee did a much better job of showcasing the Hulk's power! To each his own!

that poster would look sick if Hawkeye were in it...he was in the original group...and in my foreknowledge...i think the teams for mission will be the Hulk...what other reason to assemble the team??? Remember tthe avengers only come together when no one super hero can stop it...

Hawkeye has gotta be in there

ZOtis4- You're thinking of the Ultimates! In mainline continuity Hawkeye joined in the team in Avengers #16 with Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch when all the originals had left!

Great News. I don't think the director will let us down. But I am so so so hoping that he is the one who will direct Avengers.

@charbelelnsar...are u an actor? do u understand how actors work??? hahaha...as an actor im tellin you he would find a way...

3 of his movies are completed, one is in post production(editing), and the other is in pre production...and who knows what will happen with the Bourne series...

jallanr - 7/27/2009, 6:16 PM
no, not matt damon. i dont really no who i wanna see play cap, but i dont think i want him. anywayz, luvin the news.and ya, i think they should get the third iron man out there before avengers, along with another thor, hulk and cap. i really wanna see the avengers, but i think it would be best to get every1s stories set first. Like, the first thor should be set in asgard, with the second one being the beginnings of his time on earth. cap should have at least two, that way they could fit in everything needed, ie the invaders. i jus think they need to take their time on this, and Marvel films could become the greatest, and largest, franchise of all time!

woo hoo!
ZOtis4
ZOtis4 - 7/27/2009, 6:27 PM
ok listen...cap needs to be played by a no name guy or a star...we dont want an "OK" actor...Matt Damon is a great actor...you want someone reppin Cap well...with power...with some passion...

think Dr. Strange...JOHNNY DEPP.... PERFECT!!! If i ever finish my Hawkeye script, i will pitch to have Mark Whalberg as Hawkeye... will i get him prolly not...

Marvel has done a oustanding job with the movies they have done thus far....Ironman was the best overall superhero movie we have seen to date...the reboot hulk was better...but somethin is missin...i dont know what it is...i just wish Marvel would get there hands back on X-men, Spider-Man, and FF4...Ghost rider and blade i think can stand on their own...

The casting directors thus far for marvel have gotten some great actors...i think we should let the professionals handle it...anyone disagree?

JonF I couldn't disagree with you anymore. I would prefer Two Ironman's one Cap and One thor then avengers than we can worry about IM 3 and the part two for Thor and Cap. No need to delay Avengers even more.

I'm also excited about the possibility of an Incredible Hulk follow-up. If the time's available, I don't see why it shouldn't be made. When The Hulk faces The Leader, Bruce Banner can prove he's truly gained control and is worthy of being a hero among The Avengers. Holding off on The Avengers also gives Iron Man time to face The Mandarin first, other characters can be introduced, and more scenes involving crossovers can take place...

I still wish they would have kept that deleted scene and stressed the idea of The Hulk unintentionally bringing Captain America up out of the ice.
