They were pretty close.

but i'd have 2 say IM1 had IM2 by just a hair, but i'll have to watch it a second time to justify my conclusion

I thought IM2 was great but it just wasn't as good as IM1, but yeah it was definitley close. Iron Man 1 is still better than TDK ;)

Iron Man = 7.5/10
Iron Man 2 = 7/10 (I gave it an 8 in my review but that was right after I watched it, usually I lower every movie I review a point less a week later just, so it sinks in :D)
Batman Begins = 7.5/10
The Dark Knight = 8.5/10
Kick-Ass = 7.5/10

I liked both Iron Man 2 and Iron Man but Iron Man is an overall better movie even though I enjoyed IM2 just a tiny bit more O.o

That is such crap that my comment was deleted. Anyway to summarise. IM2 had too much adlibing and a weak script. They should have had better writers. They had 4 awesome ones in IM. And now only 1 writer, who's only credit is tropic thunder. I love IM, and Stark as a character. But IM2 regressed the character from IM. There has been no progression. And btw lots of easter eggs are no substitute for a good story.

@Gaston - so you are saying that a good movie is when the cast just wings it. You don't need a good script?

I thought is was as good as the first one. And you have to know that I love the first movie SO FREAKING MUCH but at the same time I didn't think it was as good as everyone else seems to think, idk. I have the feeling that people were not expecting it to be good so when it turned out it really was, it blew people away or something. That said, I think IM2 was just as good but now that people had expectatives, it really felt disappointing for them.
Maybe I'm wrong, though. I also liked te um... social commentaries(?) they made: IM1 was about the war and IM2 was about the celebrity impact, I thought they handled it pretty well.
To be honest, I even feel like I love IM2 a little bit more but I think that's because it had 1) those amazing easter eggs and 2) Sam Rockwell (I love him so I'm pretty much biased) and it was more of a character piece, it was nice to explore a little bit more of Tony as a person and it made a difference because the movie is not just another mindless blockbuster full of explosions but yeah, they left me wanting more so I think they did a good job with the sequel.

I had to wait til Tuesday to watch it due to my Nieces wedding. She should have been more considerate with scheduling things like that. :) All in all I thought it was a pretty solid movie. When I get off pager duty I will probably see it again.

TDK had so many great actors to do their part and carry the film. Iron Man 2 was carried by RDJ alone.

IM2 left me feeling a little hollow. There was some excellent stuff in there but it was a little crowded with characters, too much rapid fire dialogue and certain scenes seemed to have awkward finishes or segways. It was still a decent movie but it doesn't make a top 10 CBM list, imo.

The one thing that keeps me under par on the second Iron Man is the birthday party scene. It just gave me the Mr. Fantastic bachelor party vibe... with obviously more action. It also seemed like Stark was trying to hard instead of just the right amount.

"Iron Man" was a great movie. Easily in the top five comic book movies of all time, with the first "Spider-man," "Batman," (the good one, with Michael Keaton,) and "Superman: The Movie."

Not sure what number five would be. Those are the only truly great comic book movies I can remember seeing.

"Iron Man 2" was a FUN movie. I enjoyed watching it, both times. It's a great summer popcorn flick.

But it does fall into the common comic book movie sequel trap, namely, introducing too many new characters. Conventional wisdom dictates that the story has to 'up the ante' for the hero in the sequel. Unfortunately, studios, producers, screenwriters and directors for the most part equate this with throwing MORE villains at the hero, instead of ONE more powerful villain. In fact, the only sequel I can think of at the moment that DIDN'T do that was "Spider-man 2." It's not a coincidence that "Spider-man 2" is also by far the best sequel to a comic book movie so far. (By that I don't mean it's BETTER than the first movie, just the sequel that drops off the least from the first one. Not as big a disappointment.) Guess I'll have to wait a few years for "Green Lantern 2," "Thor 2," or "Captain America 2" to see if there can be another comic book movie sequel like "Spider-man 2." I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

1. TDK
2. Watchmen
3. Iron Man 1
4. Spiderman 2
5. Kick @$$

Iron Man 2 was pretty cool. TDK still raised the bar pretty high for comic sequels, but IM2 was STILL Awesome! :)

I liked it as much as the first one. Different aspects of each are better then the other one so I think they come out even. To be honest though I had more fun with this one so I guess Ironman 2 comes out slightly ahead of 1 in that respect. Also people listing Kick Ass as a great movie come on the little girl could barely act and came off fake. Plus story line wise not much happened, there was never any real excitment, dont get me wrong I liked the movie but it was not great or top 5 worthy. But I can see why Kick Ass would appeal more to the 15-21 age range of CBM posters.

Dmon @

KICK ASS was 10 times the movie IRON MAN 2 was????

Still each to their own!

I found IRON MAN 2 WEAK!

The FIRST one had better story, better affects, no stupid throw in, throw away parts, better villain fight at the end, an less SLJ! : D

Once the newness wears off, IRON MAN I will own IRON MAN 2!

Still enjoyed it though, its a good film, but should have been AWESOME!!!

No WATCHMEN thats for [frick]ing sure! : P

Agreed though, KICK ASS isn't in my top 5 either!

but the second was just bad i saw it twice just to make sure and i still want my money back Their is no excuse for this turd. you have an awsome cast and awsome character and you still manage to mess it up WTF. the movie was rushed that was the problem.
The acting was great Mickey rourke is the man but as usual holly wood kills of the bad guy in the move WTF!!! why do they always do this.
Don as war machine Good casting
sam as hammer right on target.
Script = bad maybe a reedit and it would be beter but i doubtit
THIS MOVIE= TOTAL LET DOWN

@Leee even though some people have said that the ending happened to quick in IM2 I think it was better then IM1. I always thought the ending of IM1 was lacking when compared to the ending of The Incredible Hulk. I thought IM2 made up for that. But I think the origin part of IM1 was better then the beginning of IM2. I still dont like SLJ as Fury though. Don is a step up from Howard's girly voice but still not the ideal choice for Rhodie. I thought Rockwell was meh too. I loved RDJ and ROURKE and I thought Gwen did better in this one then IM1.

I thought Iron Man 2 was really fun, and was pretty awesome. It had plenty of flaws in story telling, but managed to convince me why I shouldt care. the first one did a much better job of making me care about the chatacters, but the second had scarlett johannson in black leather. a tough decision, but i say iron man was better and will stick with me more.

LOL @darthstern you put Kick Ass before batman begins and watchmen I think you are the one on drugs. Mclovin and the little girl were horrible and that ending with Mclovin and the catchers mask was terrible.
Also your untouchables comment most of the Batman comics about that kind of stuff.
