Yesterday, Steve Weintraub of Collider.com attended a roundtable discussion with actor William Hurt. He was asked whether he will appear in either
Iron Man 2 (which is in post production) or the currently filming
Thor.
Hurt conceded that he is in neither film, but
“if they call me I’ll answer.”
It shouldn't surprise fans that General Ross wouldn't make a appearance in
Iron Man 2 since Jon Favreau revealed the film takes place before the events of
The Incredible Hulk; and therefore before Ross and Stark have that famed discussion of a new 'team.'
Hurt went on talk about the short scene with Robert Downey Jr. that managed to floor comic fans:
"We improv’d that. The entire scene had no lines written down. We did improv for that entire scene. We actually both had more of a script because of that and a feeling of more invention because of that. So we could actually go, ‘okay, who do I think my character is. . . what would he say next. I haven’t a clue, let’s have a shot at it.’"
Considering Marvel's penchant for continuity in their films (i.e. Agent Coulson) there's little doubt Ross will make another appearance when the time comes.
