Iron Man 3 boasted lots of new armor, although we didn't get to see them in action very often, but one suit did get a lot screen time, the Mark 42 (XLII). What makes the Mark 42 so special, is that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) implanted a chip into his arm so that he could mentally communicate with the armor. Allowing him to put on the suit by having it assemble onto his body from separate pieces. These separate pieces also had the ability to fly, which allowed Tony to travel great distances without his armor, and then later call upon it when needed.

At the end of the day, that suit along with all of Tony's suits, were destroyed by J.A.R.V.I.S. following Tony's instruction. Not like he is gonna need any of those, right? Oh wait, in June Marvel announced that RDJ was coming back for the next two Avengers films. So, he better get his butt in gear and start making more suits.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce. The film opened in theaters May 3, 2013. It stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.
