Robert Downey Jr Says CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Is His IRON MAN 4

Actor Robert Downey Jr. on whether Iron Man is a villain, hints at his swan song and Avengers: Infinity War. Are we getting close to the day that RDJ hangs up his arc reactor and fires his last repulsor ray?

Will Marvel ever gift fans with another solo Iron Man film? Does Robert Downey Jr.'s description of Captain America: Civil War as his Iron Man 4 serve as an indicator that it's very unlikely? While promoting the film to USA Today, Downey also touched on whether he considers Tony Stark's turn in Civil War as the character going full-blown villain.  His comments would also seem to indicate that a fourth Iron Man film was somehow waylaid by what Marvel is planning for Avengers: Infinity War.

"In a way it’s 'Cap 3' but for me it’s like my little Iron Man 4 and then it's back to the thing we all recognize.  Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that’s how it is until it changes. If it changes."  In terms of whether Downey's Tony Stark goes full villain in Civil War, RDJ says the time is not right for such an occurrence to happen.  "If we’re going to go there, then we’ve got to save it for my swan song. I would still like to keep a general audience and mildly be in their favor somehow."

It's interesting that Downey brought up his swan song as Tony Stark/Iron Man.  Is that time drawing near?  The future of the MCU and Iron Man's future should be made all the more clearer post Civil War.

Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War opens in U.S. theaters on May.

Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil Waris set to be released on May 6th, 2016. @Matador - Right? Had this been a BvsS article of Ben Affleck saying "It is Batman 11" I would have commented with that.

BvS will win box office wise, while CW will win quality wise.

@SorcererSupreme - Or, OR, hear me out, BvS ends up being a quality movie, Cap3 ALSO ends up being a quality movie, and we can all give a shit about what they make. Eh? Good idea, right?
