John Carter Of Mars set pics have started coming in from Utah. And they look pretty cool.

Directer Andrew Stanton's John Carter Of Mars stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Mark Strong, and James Purefoy (among others). Filming on the project has taken over Lake Powell, Utah. And the pictures are starting to come in.

Above and immediately below are pictures of skulls and bones molded by Orlandi Statuary. He was contracted to mold a collection resembling those of a saber tooth. The bones are to be scattered about for a fight scene.

This from io9....

The first image is of a prop raft that floats, presumably for a water scene - our money is on a Mars canal moment, there are many on this planet.

The second picture has a small model of the temple to the Therns on the right hand side of the picture, in front of the arena. And here's the arena itself which John Carter Movie was told is being referred to as the "monkey arena" and you all know what that means, there may be giant white ape fights!

There are 20-foot-high statues of the Tharks - they're not green, but Mars rock red, although they do have four arms. Sadly, there are no pictures of these creations just yet. JCM suspects it's for the Thernian temple, which could be in one of the many pictures below of the far off buildings. Anything is possible the sets had plenty of green screens handy.

Last, but not least is my favorite. This picture was taken by a local realtor who has filming taking place every night right outside her back door. You can't really tell whats going on but it looks very foreboding.

You know, I never really knew much about JCOM, but I've been getting increasingly interested ever since the movie was announced. Looking forward to more set pics/trailers.

If you are interested in the John Carter of Mars story, just stay clear of watching Princess of Mars with Traci Lords. :P

Looking forward to seeing more of how this develops. I'm a big Edgar Rice Burroughs fan!

There's a bunch of good actors in this movie. More than enough to make it worth checking out even if your not in to JCOM.

The comics are good bleedfreak, but like Conan I feel like you should start with the short stories and novels first. If you're into flash gordon and conan you'll prolly enjoy this.

I normally think SET PICTURES are lame and not worth posting (Especially in MAIN anyway) but these do feel MARS about them and do give us a feel of what JOHN CARTERS gonna be like!

Good stuff @ HAWKS!

Yeah, Princess of Mars was a giant turd, but it was still partially enjoyable to see some semblance of the story in movie form. But come on, the Tharks only had two arms, and Antonio Sabato Jr. played John Carter, so yeah, it was barely worth the rental fee.
