This is a really cool movie idea, while I've never read the comics I did enjoy the original novela. It's more or less conan meet flash gordon it's a pretty sweet concept. I'm also intrigued that it's a live action pixar production, I wonder how it'll look. No doubt we'll see many awesome computer generated beasts and scenery.

@gunsmith was that sarcsim? I have a feeling she wont be wearing that bikini....shoot..i love disney dont get me wrong we all grew up with them (more or less) but this is either gonna be good or its gonna be bad. But lookin at the positive im gonna say good. NBC is owned by Disney so i bet marvel will still have its liberties.

Frank Frazetta is one of the top fantasy illustrators of all time! I love his work! Wish I was half the artist he is! And I have an art degree and all. Oh, well! :D

I think this movie will be fantastic! Disney is not just all kiddie stuff, ya know! Disney owns a lot of companies that do quite a bit of mature material. I think Marvel will be alright like Stan the Man says. But this movie doesn't need to be an R movie or anything! It's Edgar Rice Burroughs after all!

@LEEE: Thanks! Yeah, me too! Hey, why are you using Tyler's avatar? I thought you were him at first.

@Natalia: They told you before I could get to it, but that's the artwork of the insanely talented Frank Frazetta.

@DarthKyrat: Thanks! Welcome!

@DDD: Do you do any comic or animation work?

@Set2Fall: Welcome back, man! Congrats! Keep up the great work and keep your eye on the horizon and you'll be headlining someday!

TheMyth: Yes, yes they are! ;P

Now everyone that likes Frazetta (which should be everyone on this website) go watch Fire & Ice. It's an animated movie collaboration between Frazetta and Ralph Bashki. They use rotoscoping like the old Superman cartoons and some early disney animation. Even if you're not a fan, go watch this movie, If only for the artistry.

@Brent, I've been writing a graphic novel script for some time now (In my spare time which there is very little of.), that I will publish. Gonna have someone else do the layouts 'cause I'm not that good at layouts. I'm good and fast at inking so I will be doing the inking of my GN.

I love creating characters 'cause I'm more of a writer than an artist but I do have an art degree. My degree is mostly in animation and commercial art (No official training in comic book illustration--I'm self-taught.). I have an extensive training in scriptwriting but no college degree. I've done a few paying jobs in animation, here and there, locally.

Brent, insanely talented is an understatement lol. Too bad his health over the past years has taken a toll on his eyesight and dexterity. He has to use his left hand for artwork now. I have his Molley Hatchet album covers, the original vinyls!!! I also have the Lil Abner series released by Dark Horse in 4 volumes a few years back with a lot of the old paper backs for Tarzan and such for which he did covers for. He and Boris Vellajo(spelling?) were among my first artistic influences as a kid. I'm sure you've seen 'Painting with Fire', I recommend any fan of this brand of artwork see it! I think in all, his Conan stuff has to be my favorite.

DDD - 9/2/2009, 1:01 AM
@Myth you're totally right, Boris is amazing along with Frank. They are the leaders in fantasy book illustration!
I too love the Conan work! Incredible!
DDD
DDD - 9/2/2009, 1:05 AM
Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo's wife is pretty insanely talented too! She was the first woman to paint Conan.
TheMyth
TheMyth - 9/2/2009, 2:59 AM
Yes I always liked Julie, though my first real taste of her artwork came from the Marvel Masterpiece cards back in the 90's, along with Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. I like the illumination the Hildebrandt brothers bring to their work, they are VERY good at illustrating lighting dynamics.

Ha! I went rifling through some of my Frazetta stuff cause this article got me all nostalgic for it, and guess what I found!!! Some old issues of Jaguar God, the comics Glenn Danzig did with Frazetta!!! I only have 2 issues, #0 and #1!!! I remember that #0 was actually one of the last issues released, at least I think that's how it went. There are only 9 issues total including #0. I forgot I even had them, they used to be framed and on my wall long ago, but I swapped out the comics to display something else in the frame and they got buried in my collection.
DDD
DDD - 9/2/2009, 9:20 PM
The Hildebrandts are awesome but a little more fantasy-like in their artwork! Frank, Boris and Julie go for the very realistic depictions although Frank does exaggerate a little in his style but all the right exaggeration! :)

BTW, @Myth, my desktop pic is The Frank Frazetta painting for Doc Savage's "Python Isle", it's terrific! That's how much I love his style! :D
