With strong reviews and a current gross of over $606 million worldwide ($213.8M domestic; $392.9M foreign) within two weeks of release, Warner Bros.' Joker is a bonafide blockbuster and is on track to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time as well as one of the highest-grossing DC films ever.

As the film looks to continue its stellar run this weekend with an estimated $25 million third frame, director Todd Phillips has shared even more behind-the-scenes photos from the Joaquin Phoenix-starrer, highlighting some key moments from the movie.

Forever alone in a crowd, Arthur Fleck seeks connection. Yet, as he trods the sooted Gotham City streets and rides the graffitied mass transit rails of a hostile town teeming with division and dissatisfaction, Arthur wears two masks. One, he paints on for his day job as a clown. The other he can never remove; it’s the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel he’s a part of the world around him, and not the misunderstood man whom life is repeatedly beating down. Fatherless, Arthur has a fragile mother, arguably his best friend, who nicknamed him Happy, a moniker that’s fostered in Arthur a smile that hides the heartache beneath. But, when bullied by teens on the streets, taunted by suits on the subway, or simply teased by his fellow clowns at work, this social outlier only becomes even more out of sync with everyone around him.

Joker features:
Director: Todd Phillips
Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker
Robert De Niro as Murray Franklin
Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond
Frances Conroy as Penny Fleck
Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne
Douglas Hodge as Alfred Pennyworth
Dante Pereira-Olson as Bruce Wayne
Glenn Fleshler as Randall
Bill Camp as Detective Garrity
Shea Whigham as Detective Burke
Marc Maron as Gene Ufland
Leigh Gill as Gary
Josh Pais as Hoyt Vaughn
Brian Tyree Henry as Carl
Bryan Callen as Haha's Stripper
Chris Redd as Comedy Club Emcee
Justin Theroux in a cameo appearance

Ya know I really wasn't sure about the traditional clown makeup route when we were just seeing set photos a year ago, but damn, his final look is so chilling. When he was just out of focus appearing on the tv screen on Murray's show, he looked terrifying.

Great actor. The fact that Joker might not even be in his top 3 performances this decade says it all I think. I know he's going back to indies after this, but I wonder if the global fan-base he's accumulated with Joker are gonna support his smaller endeavours? Would be pretty cool.

DC Blockbuster... Anyone saw the DC logo after the Warner logo? I didn´t. Or was just me?

I don't think this made news on here, sorry if it already did, but if you haven't seen it, Thanos (Josh Brolin) himself gave really heartfelt and interesting review of Joker. Whatever you thought of the movie, it's worth a read and definitely one of my favorite reviews that has come out of the giant body of them this movie has generated.

Joker is an important movie! It demonstrates the direction Warner Brothers should have gone in and blows apart the arguments from comic fans as well as uptight celebrities that you can't make comic book movies AND high quality character focused films and audiences will reward it. This is the message that failed to resonate with Man of Steel causing the studio to overreact to critics instead of the audience and trying to become Marvel light!

@Forthas - No, Joker should be dark because that's where the character works best, not because that's where all DC characters work best. They tried dark, gritty Superman and it blew up on their faces, but then the light & family friendly Shazam! was one of the best superhero films of the year. The last Joker on-screen was a weird, campy neon nightmare and audiences and critics alike hated it, so there's no need for all DC projects to have a unified tone consider how different the characters are.

Such a fantastic film and a perfect performance from Phoenix as both Arthur Fleck and The Joker.

@ALegendaryPanda @Necropolitan - Never knew how much I'd love the visual of Joker smoking cigs until I saw this movie.

I just now realised that moment towards the end when Arthur uses his blood to draw a smile across his lips mirrors the one when he's pulling his lips apart in the beginning.

I like that.

Nice pics. I've been thinking about this movie ever since I saw it for the first time over a week ago. Maybe I'll go for a second viewing tomorrow, watching Blu-Ray from a TV won't be the same kind of experience. Joker is made for the big screen.
