It's fair to say that most of us probably never imagined Game of Thrones alum Jason Momoa playing Aquaman, but based on everything we've seen so far, he's a perfect fit for the role. Talking in the video below, the actor says that while he was initially worried that he would have to cut and dye his hair in order to portray the King of Atlantis' clean cut appearance, it turns out that he initially assumed that Justice League director Zack Snyder was approaching him to play a very different type of character.

"Dude, there was a lot of things that went through my head when he said Aquaman," Momoa says. "There were a lot of things that went through my mind. I was thinking like, 'Lobo.' I'm gonna play some kind of bad guy. I'm like, 'Who am I gonna play?' And year, he said Aquaman. I was just like, 'Come again? Pardon me?' And then he explained why. I was like, 'Whoa, buddy. I got your back'"

Momoa also talks about the "amazing" trailer for Justice League and has nothing but good things to say about Snyder, but things took a lighter turn when he was asked about whether or not underwater kissing scenes have proved to be a challenge when he's acting alongside Amber Heard (Mera) in the highly anticipated superhero ensemble. "Nah, they're easy bro," he laughs. Are you guys looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table as Aquaman? Let us know your thoughts below.

Looks-wise, I could see that. I haven't really seen him outside of GOT, so idk how much versatility he has and if he would've been well suited to Lobo as an actor.

@BIGBMH - Me neither, but from what I hear he's pretty much the same character in everything.

@TheNewGuy123 - He seems like a cool, laid back guy so it might be interesting to see him play a role that's more in line with who he is in real life. That'd contrast pretty strongly with the warrior persona I've seen him take on as Drogo (which I think might be somewhat similar to the vibe he had as Conan and will have as Aquaman).

@BIGBMH - I watched the dude for three years playing basically a combination of angry biker dude and laid back biker dude on Stargate Atlantis. And while he's not completely without charisma, I'll just say I'm very skeptical.

But his Lobo would have been amazing.

@Spock0Clock - Haha, so you think he would have been amazing even though you're skeptical of him?

@Spock0Clock @BIGBMH - IMO, he was the best part of Stargate Atlantis. He had TONS of charisma on that show. He played a brooding warrior, but also had most of the funniest lines (Think Khal Drogo + Drax). I will concede that he has been typecast as a "brooding warrior", but when you have dark features and are that size, i imagine that it's difficult avoiding that.

BIGBMH, if you want to check out some of his range, I suggest the "Sateda" episode of Stargate Atlantis, or his show "The Red Road".

Just my .02

@Talontd - Ok, cool. I didn't want that to come off like I was skeptical that he had range or charisma. I was just saying that since I've only seen him in one role, I can't speak to whether he does or does not.

You're right about the type casting. He has that warrior look (which isn't a bad thing) so it would lead people to cast him in those roles even if he can do more.

@TheNewGuy123 - he's actually pretty versatile. Way before GOT i knew him as Ronon Dex on Stargate Atlantis. There's a three episode arc centered around him and his past and he did some solid work in those. If you wanna sample his chops look for an episode called Sateda. It's pretty heavy emotionally.

@Talontd - Lmfao I JUST suggested this in my reply. Sateda is an awesome episode

@Emjeed - Haha, I was reading your comment like....maybe he didn't see mine? Haha. You've got good taste bro...

@BIGBMH - No worries, it doesn't read that way. I just feel obligated to stick up for him since most peoples experience with his acting is Khal Drogo & Conan. Drogo was AWESOME, but CONAN was a VERY flawed film. MARCUS NISPEL is a HACK, and Mamoa's career nearly didn't recover. Unfortunately, he signed on for the film when Brett Ratner was still attached, the studio switched directors on him in the 25th hour.

Thankfully, he showed enough there to land Drogo which somewhat salvaged his reputation. He's always seemed like a cool laid-back dude in interviews, I hope he knocks Aquaman out of the park.
