Zack Snyder has been busy in the DC Universe since the late 2000s when he was working on Watchmen. From there, he tackled Man of Steel after a couple of original projects, and later took charge of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. That hasn't left much time to negotiate with other companies, though there were once rumours he was talking to Lucasfilm about Star Wars.
Right now, it's looking like the filmmaker's time in the DC Extended Universe has reached its end, despite Zack Snyder's Justice League seemingly proving to be a hit for HBO Max.
Could Marvel Studios be waiting in the wings to bring the director into the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Asked by MTV News whether he's spoken to them, Snyder confirmed that's not been the case.
"I've never met him," the director said if Kevin Feige. "Incredible work he's done, insanely beautiful, and they've run the gamut, let's be honest. They've put their toes in every possible genre. They've played with their characters in, now I think even more experimental ways, they're secure enough to then [explore]. They're not playing defense anymore, which I think is pretty awesome."
He seems to be a fan, but would Snyder's vision for superheroes mesh with Marvel's and vice versa? Perhaps, perhaps not. Either way, putting Feige and Snyder in the same room would be pretty interesting.
After his experiences in the DCEU, it's possible the filmmaker wouldn't want to return to the genre, of course, and some studios could be reluctant to commit to the scale of his ideas.
