JUSTICE LEAGUE Runtime Points To The Movie Being The Shortest DC Films Entry To Date

As we inch toward November, it appears as though the official runtime for Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon's Justice League has been revealed and it's nowhere near as long as you were expecting. Come take a look!

Following several conflicting reports over the past few months, the official runtime of Warner Bros.' Justice League has now been confirmed to be 121 minutes (or 2 hours and 1 minute) with credits, which makes it the shortest entry in the studio's burgeoning DC Films cinematic universe.

Both AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas have confirmed the official runtime as has Fandango's managing editor Erik Davis.

Early rumors suggested director Zack Snyder's initial cut of the film would run close to three hours, but it appears as though his replacement Joss Whedon (The Avengers) has trimmed a lot of the excess fat and streamlined the movie into something much more simple and faster-paced - and coincidentally, more theater-friendly as the shorter runtime will allow theaters to schedule additional showtimes.

The biggest DC film to date will now run shorter than all four of its predecessors: Man of Steel (143 minutes), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (153 minutes), Suicide Squad (123 minutes), and Wonder Woman (141 minutes). Now, while the two worst-received films did receive extended editions on home video, essentially as damage control, it's not necessarily a guarantee that the same thing will happen with Justice League as the changes Whedon has made are widely considered to be much more significant than anything that was done to either Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad.

Tickets have yet to go on sale, but rumor has it that they will finally be available next Monday, if not sooner, so stay tuned into CBM for updates.

UPDATE: The runtime has been updated to 119 minutes.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

@JohnMarston220 - Proof that Whedon cut a lot out and basically remade the whole movie. Snyder is known for shooting a ton of footage. The fact that Whedon shot additional footage, some of which are 100% his own, and has creative freedom to rewrite and change the music says everything. When the movie comes out, I don't think people can say it's like any of Snyder's previous movies.

@JohnMarston220 - That 1 minute will make all the difference 😂
But seriously if this is true and not some BS. Then going on past DCU instalments. Maybe this is their gimmick. Show less in cinema but then release more footage on DVD release with various degrees of longer directors cuts.
Maybe it will work better for general audiences with less time for filler scenes and confuse the plot.
It's probably going to be a very fast paced movie.

@TheIlluminati - I'd have been fine with that. Watching the extended versions of Lord of The rings is the only way to do the world justice and I enjoy long movies. Because you get your money's worth.

@TheIlluminati - I'm glad there won't be an "Ultimate" BS Snyder cut.

Probably the wrong way to share a tweet but that Gabriel Grey guy is claiming there is an extended cut of JL, if true then my guess is it'll be on the bluray...

@Griela - He's been around for a while and has been quoted for some 'scoops' before. He's generally on the money, and from what we've heard has been shot for JL, I wouldn't bet against an extended cut at some stage.

@obarium - Oh yeah? Who is he and which news did he break that were confirmed? It's all BS.

He's not even verified and most of his 2k followers are bots. Maybe it's you. lol

@Griela - Mate, I don't care if you believe him, me, or Santa Claus, I'm just having a conversation over the likelihood of an extended cut. I've been following him for ages cause he likes to chat about entertainment with brief periods of political ramblings. The most in-depth he gets about 'rumours' is about as creditable as Hollywood whispers, but he presents his thoughts from the point of view of someone in the industry.

Certainly isn't me, I'm some nobody in NZ.
