'Superman' Battles 'Wonder Woman' In JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL Storyboard Art

George Miller's defunct Justice League movie would have featured a knock-down, drag-out brawl between two of DC's finest. No, not a lover's tiff - Supes was being controlled by the film's villain, Maxwell Lord. Check out some awesome storyboards depicting this epic clash...

Following on from the announcement that a documentary about George Miller's cancelled Justice League: Mortal was in the works, we continue to get some very interesting "what if" pre-production teases. The latest comes from storyboard artist Steve Skroce, who posted the following samples of his work to his Facebook page.

In the script, Maxwell Lord (Jay Baruchel) takes control of Superman's (D.J. Cotrona) mind and forces him to engage his team-mates in combat. This battle with Wonder Woman (Megan Gale) would have happened towards the end of the film, just before Batman (Armie Hammer) snaps Lord's neck! In the comics it's actually Wonder Woman who is forced to commit the murder... but there you go.

Here's what Skroce had to say about the artwork.

"I'm seeing a lot of art from the cancelled George Miller Justice League film so here's a few boards that I did for the film. It was incredibly fun drawing the DC comics characters which I hadn't had the opportunity to do until then. It's Wonder Woman versus Superman ( they have their reasons, mind control!)"

@0megaDaGr0dd

There's also a great Flash sequence at the end. Basically based on how Barry died in Crisis. Would have involved Barry & Wally running around and before Barry dies, he told Wally "Tag, you're it".

In the first frame Superman has her by the right arm. In the second frame, it's the left arm.

Neat "What if"!

So they were gonna go with the Superman from Kingdom Come design. I can go with that because that comic was amazing so any reference to that is an A+ in my book.

The look of this film doesn't look bad. The script that leaks was beyond terrible though.

The script seemed to be a combo of Crisis (with Barry's death) and Infinite Crisis.....dont get it twisted that this wouldve been a great film...script was great, actors selected all sucked with the exception of Martian Manhunter..case in point is Hammer's performance in Lone Ranger ..

This was an awesome scene to read. Love that Kingdom Come Superman shield.

@newmutantsRETURNS

There was also a little project OMAC in there as well. And I think Miller could have potentially gotten good performances out of all of them. I mean, he was able to get one out of a supermodel in fury road.

@Doopie

I've never seen the pictures but Common and Armie Hammer have spoken about the finished costumes and trying them on. Some guy from WETA also described them in an interview once but I couldn't find it.

Megan Gale was bad-ass is Mad Max,
She would've been awesome in the action scenes as Wonder Woman

The script was posted here about a year ago...

@Dingbat

Dont know brother....Santiago Cabrera? DJ Crotona? looked like a Justice League Dawson's Creek version...but you are right...he did get the supermodel to act her ass off..

I've got the script on my hard drive. It was.....decent. Not a great way to build a franchise, much less several franchises.

I've read the script and I'm really glad the movie was scrapped for our current DCCU. It is pretty interesting though to see what could have been. I'm really looking forward to seeing the death of superman lives.

I sometimes really don't understand why they hire storyboard artists for some scenes in these kind of movies. Why would they not just look at comicbooks, there is your storyboard right there. I can bet a scene like this has been done 100 times in the DC comics. Just say(for example):In this comic on page 3: Doomsday needs to be Wonder Woman, et voila: Storyboard.

The more I see from this the more I feel we really missed out on something great. Don't execute me Snyder fans, I'm curious to see what Snyder does with the DCCU but I like the look Miller was going for.
