Yesterday, Vanity Fair revealed that Zack Snyder has shot a new ending for Justice League, and noted that it now features "a hero cameo that will blow hard-core fans' minds." Unfortunately, it seems the author of the piece may have underestimated how closely those same fans have been paying attention to what's to come in the "Snyder Cut."
Over the past 24 hours, we've seen names like Green Lantern, Hawkman, and even Harley Quinn thrown around, and speculation has been running rampant about this hero's identity (Ryan Reynolds even had to take to Twitter to deny rumors that he's suited up as Hal Jordan again).
Unfortunately, this cameo doesn't appear to be as mind-blowing as first thought as io9 is reporting that, "According to our source, the cameo is none other than DC’s J’onn J’onzz, otherwise known as Martian Manhunter."
Haven't we known for, well, years that he'll appear? Yes, but the site reiterates that "we can confirm the reference is in regards to Martian Manhunter’s appearance."
It's no secret that Martian Manhunter will disguise himself as Martha Kent at one point (Snyder shared storyboards of this scene in 2019), but it seems he'll also reveal himself to the team at the end of Justice League, thereby "Uniting The Seven," and likely guiding the heroes towards whatever their next adventure might be.
There's bound to be some disappointment here, and it remains possible that Snyder has other surprises planned. As things stand, though, it seems this cameo might not be as big a deal as we expected after yesterday's report.
