Don't Expect That AVENGERS 4 Title Reveal At SDCC - It Looks Like Marvel Studios Is Skipping Hall H This Year

If you were hoping to find out some more details on the fourth Avengers movie - most specifically, the title - this year at SDCC, you should probably prepare to be disappointed! More past the jump...

Well, this is disappointing.

We were all hoping for a large presence from Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con this year as the MCU prepares to enter into Phase 4, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

A Tweet sent out by NY Mag's Kyle Buchanan reveals that Kevin Feige has decided to skip Hall H in order to "let the dust settle" from Avengers: Infinity War.

Though Marvel will still have a presence and we'll likely get a few tidbits of new info here and there over the weekend, we probably shouldn't expect anything in the way of big reveals - and that includes the much-discussed and debated title of Avengers 4.

SDCC kicks-off on Thursday, July 19; while Avengers: Infinity War will be with us in just 5 days time.

Maybe it'll be like Logan where the tile isn't revealed until 6 months before the film is shown.

Either that it'll be revealed where the after credits scene would be.

Here's an Example:

...They will return in...

AVENGERS INFINITY GAUNTLET (That probably won't be the name but you get the idea).

Marvel's one of the main reasons I even pay attention to Comic-Con, but OK. Whatever they say.

Marvel doesn't need to generate hype for Avengers 4 with a Hall-H panel and its entirely possible
Sony could promote Spider-Man Homecoming 2 in San Diego since Sony is distributing that film.

All I'm expecting Marvel wise from SDCC is Agents of SHIELD, Spider-Man Homecoming 2 (from Sony)
and Dark Phoenix from FOX.

WB needs a chance to bounce back from Justice League and Aquaman and SHAZAM panels plus Wonder Woman 2
news and an official 2020 slate of films should go a long way towards that.

WB should also work with Legendary by doing a MonsterVerse panel featuring a Godzilla: King of Monsters
panel, Godzilla vs Kong news and a future slate of MonsterVerse films.

@WarnerBrother -

Have to correct myself. According to Kevin Feige, Spider-Man Homecoming 2 (or whatever its
actual title could be) is set to film in early July so Sony wouldn't have any footage to promote
at SDCC even if they wanted to.

We'll definitely be getting a Superman announcement at SDCC.

@WarnerBrother - I think the Fox will most definitely use comicon to promote Dark Phoeinx, New Mutants, and maybe officially announce films that are defiently moving into production (before the deal goes through) like X-force.

Given that trailers usually come out 6 months before film relase, I expect a Dark Pheonix teaser trailer.

And I would guess revealing the new characters in New Mutants (maybe Warllock) could function.
I doubt we would be getting a proper trailer, but perhaps concept art or photos of the cast in their "costumes" (eg Magick with her sword and Wolfbane all wolfed up).

@Battabing -

That would be awesome news. I have to ask though, what are you basing the Superman
announcement on?

Did Henry Cavill let something slip?

Also. Who do you think gets the directors gig.

Give us a World's Finest Year with Matt Reeves The Batman and a proper Man of Steel sequel.

Damn, I did forget about Venom. Well Sony had better show up and promote the hell
out of that movie.

Word was they were supposed to announce MOS 2 after JL, but it stumbled. So they wanted some distance between the movie and the announcement. I'm just guessing it will be at SDCC.

@Battabing -

That makes sense.Hope Matt Vaughn gets the job of directing MoS 2.

We could be in for something special with DC films because the pressure
to world build to Justice League made everything else of secondary importance.

Superman and Batman actually work best as their own worlds. With the shared
universe established, WB can go back to the real strength of the DC universe which
is heroes with their own rich mythologies and not a universe like the MCU known
more for its shared mythology (outside of Spider-Man and maybe the X-Men)
