Consider us confused, but in a video shared to Chinese website Weibo, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced plans for an MCU-themed musical that's premiering on Bilibili on New Year's Eve to ring in 2021. We're not sure if this is exclusive to the Middle Kingdom, but it sounds kind of rad!

"The New Year's Eve party will present Marvel-themed music performances to relive the MCU's most familiar and shocking legendary movements," reads the caption. "The light of Marvel heroes still glows. After the final battle, a new era of Marvel Cinematic Universe will begin."

Feige, meanwhile, teased what's to come from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021, and it sounds like we might - and it's a big might - get some sort of new sneak peek at that Phase 4 slate.

"Next year, Marvel will continue to bring inspiring stories to the big screen, including Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as Eternals, welcoming a brand new era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe," he says. "Before that, there will also be a Marvel-themed musical performance to welcome the new year. Tune into the Bilibili New Year’s Gala on December 31st and get a glimpse of what’s to come in 2021."

2021 is definitely going to be an exciting year for Marvel Studios, and while we're not banking on any big reveals from this event, we can't help but be intrigued by what this musical performance will look like.

Needless to say, we'll bring you guys the video as soon as we have it to share over the New Year.

10. Zack Snyder's Justice League Likely R-Rated

Bat

During a recent interview, Zack Snyder confirmed that his cut of Justice League is likely to receive an R-Rating. The filmmaker also mentioned that he believes the movie will ultimately be released in theaters, something that makes sense after the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement.

As for that rating, the director elaborated on why it's likely an R, "There's one scene where Batman drops an F-bomb. Cyborg is not too happy with what's going on with his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to speak his mind. And Steppenwolf is pretty much just hacking people in half. So [the rating would be due to] violence and profanity, probably both."

9. Helstrom Cancelled By Hulu After One Season

84A12

Surprising no one, Helstrom - the final series from Marvel Television - has been cancelled by Hulu.

This was to be expected, as the show was never really marketed as a new Marvel TV series (likely meaning viewership was low). Showrunner Paul Zbyszewski - who worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - had his overall deal with Marvel terminated in April, so the show was done for even back then.

Find more details on Helstrom's cancellation in the original post.

8. Black Adam Finally Casts Cyclone

84A1

Black Adam's Justice Society just found another member, with Quintessa Swindell (Netflix's Trinkets) has joined the cast of Black Adam as DC Comics superhero Cyclone.

Swindell is non-binary and uses the them/they pronouns. They're currently in the midst of shooting In Treatment for HBO, and are considered the breakout star in the aforementioned Netflix series. Other credits include HBO's Euphoria and the upcoming Neil Burger sci-fi movie, Voyagers. In the comics, Cyclone is also known as Maxine Hunkell, the granddaughter of the original Red Tornado.

7. Wonder Woman 1984 Reviews Are In

84A

The review embargo for Wonder Woman 1984 lifted this week, and it's good news for the DC Comics sequel. "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently has a score of 87%.

In our review, we said that Wonder Woman 1984 is "A powerful, emotional sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman 1984 makes wonder-ful use of its 1980s setting, and sees Pedro Pascal deliver another phenomenal performance as the delightfully maniacal Maxwell Lord."

6. Spider-Man 3 May Have Added Two More Villains

Sandam

The Spider-Man 3 cast continues to grow, and it's said Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church are now in talks to reprise their respective roles as the Green Goblin and Sandman.

The Green Goblin is one of the wall-crawler's most iconic villains, while Sandman would no doubt look even more incredible on the big screen with today's technology. Of course, this begs the question of what they would even be doing in a movie as ambitious as this one.

This rumour leaves us with a lot of questions, and there are more details here.

5. Gal Gadot Opens Up On Justice League Experience

84A12

WarnerMedia's Justice League investigation may have wrapped up, but Wonder Woman 1984 star Gal Gadot is the latest to open up on what it was like working with director Joss Whedon.

"I wasn’t there with the guys when they shot with Joss Whedon," Gadot said after sharing her support for co-star Ray Fisher. "I had my own experience with [him], which wasn’t the best one, but I took care of it there and when it happened. I took it to the higher-ups and they took care of it. But I’m happy for Ray to go up and say his truth."

It's previously been reported that Gadot refused to film that scene where the Flash lands on top of her (hence why we never see Wonder Woman's face). Find more comments from the actress here.

4. Spider-Man May Be Sticking Around In The MCU

84A121

Spider-Man 3 is clearly going to be a huge movie, but some fans have theorised that it could serve as a farewell to Peter Parker in the MCU. However, a new rumour shared online this week claimed that Marvel Studios has "extended the [Spider-Man] deal" with Sony Pictures.

Why? Apparently, it's happening because the iconic superhero is set to play "a pivotal role" in the MCU moving forward, though this report doesn't elaborate on what that might be.

Check out the original post for further details.

3. Wonder Woman 1984's Post-Credits Scene

84A12

We obviously don't want to spoil anything for you guys here, but with Wonder Woman 1984 now playing in theaters across the world, a description of the sequel's mid-credits scene has been revealed.

It sounds like a fun sequence, and one that may or may not have ramifications for Wonder Woman 3

Anyway, we'll leave you to check the description out by clicking here.

2. The Mandalorian Spinoff Announced For December 2021

84A1212

Yesterday was a huge day for The Mandalorian as the season two finale dropped more than one bombshell. You can read more about that in our spoiler-filled recap of "The Rescue."

We have a lot of questions after yesterday's episode, and while we won't get into specifics here, you can find a first look at that returning character right here. However, the biggest talking point is the announcement of a new spinoff series which will arrive on Disney+ in December 2021.

For all the details on that, head over to our original report.

1. Zack Snyder's Justice League Gets A Release Date

84A12121

Answering fan questions on Vero, Zack Snyder confirmed that the "Snyder Cut" hits the streaming service next March. We've known for a while now that it would debut early in 2021, but a March premiere means it hits HBO Max the same month as Tom and Jerry and The Many Saints of Newark

It's still unclear whether this version of Justice League will be released on a weekly basis or in one go, but it has previously been described as a four-part event series, but this is still exciting news!
