Rumors did the rounds earlier this year that Shia LaBeouf was being eyed for a potential part in an upcoming Marvel Studios project, and it looks like the troubled actor was indeed being looked at for an MCU role. Was being the operative word.
Variety claims that Marvel Studios was interested in LaBeouf for a superhero role after his critically acclaimed turn in Honey Boy, prior to the actor being accused of some seriously grotesque behaviour by ex girlfriend FKA Twigs (real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett). It's not known which character/movie/series LaBeouf was up for, but the trade reports that while there was initial interest, "a meeting never took place and discussions never ensued."
LaBeouf has a long history of substance abuse problems, anger issues and unprofessionalism, but his behaviour was largely given a pass in Hollywood because of his undeniable talent. However, these latest allegations - which include sexual battery, knowingly infecting Twigs with an STD, and even shooting stray dogs with a gun to get into character for The Tax Collector - could very well torpedo his career once and for all.
The actor was recently dropped from the cast of Olivia Wilde's latest film Don't Worry Darling and replaced in his role by Harry Styles. Sources indicated that a scheduling conflict was the reason for the change, but Variety reckons LaBeouf was actually fired by the director, who implemented her "no assholes on set" policy.
If (by some miracle) LaBeouf was to land a Marvel role, which hero/villain do you think he'd be best suited for?
