While it was Robert Kirkman who was responsible for that first Marvel Zombies series alongside artist Sean Phillips, Mark Millar and Greg Land actually introduced the undead heroes in the pages of Ultimate Fantastic Four. Now, in a recent newsletter sent out to fans, Millar suggested that a live-action project of some sort could be in the works following last week's What If...? episode.
Sharing his thoughts on the MCU debut of the Marvel Zombies, Millar noted (via CBR) that "(if my sources are correct) a little live-action Marvel Zombies further down the line, but you never heard that from me."
This is far from confirmed, but between his history with the characters and the fact he has Hollywood contacts, there's no reason to believe Millar couldn't have heard about Marvel Studios' plans. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one likely destination for the zombified versions of these characters, but it's entirely possible they could appear in their own movie or series.
Either way, a live-action Marvel Zombies project is undeniably exciting, and the response to "What If...Zombies?!" has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.
For now, it's definitely best to take this with a pinch of salt, but when Marvel Studios does unveil its Phase 5 slate, it would certainly be pretty cool to see this spinoff up there! As for enlisting actors for these zombie heroes, the sort of prosthetics we've seen in The Walking Dead, for example, likely means Marvel Studios could get away with not bringing everyone back.
What direction would you like to see this Marvel Zombies project head in?
