WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Disney+ Halloween Special Adds THE NEVERS Star Laura Donnelly

Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ Halloween Special, which is believed to be based on Werewolf by Night, has added The Nevers actress Laura Donnelly in an undisclosed role. Could she be playing Nina Price?

Marvel Studios' untitled Disney+ Halloween Special is scheduled to begin shooting later this year, and the project has now added its female lead.

Joining Gael Garcia Bernal, who is believed to be playing a character based on Marvel Comics' lycanthrope antihero Werewolf by Night, is The Nevers actress Laura Donnelly. Deadline cannot confirm which character she's been cast as, but speculate that it could well be Nina Price, aka Vampire by Night.

In the comics, Price is the niece of character Jack Russel, and is a actually vampire/werewolf hybrid. Russel debuted in the pages of Marvel Spotlight in the early '70s, and was the first to hold the mantle of Werewolf by night. More recently, a teen of Hopi and Mexican descent named Jake Gomez was introduced as a new take on the Werewolf.

It's not clear who Bernal's version will take influence from, but it could end up being an amalgamation of the two or a completely new character.

Donnelly will be best known for her role as Amalia True in HBO’s The Nevers, but has also appeared in Outlander and Britannia, as well as The Fall, Tolkien and The Program. She won an Olivier Award for her performance in The Ferryman back in 2018.

She was awesome in The Nevers. That show was a trip. Totally confusing for the first five episodes (at one point I thought I missed an episode or something), then it all came together in the final sixth episode with some big twists.

She reminds me a lot of Krysten Ritter

She's great in The Nevers, as strange of a ride as that is.

Love some Bernal too, although his role, as limited as it is, kind of disappoints in Station Eleven. That's another strange one.

@inkniron - Thought he was solid in Station Eleven, but I also feel like the show as a whole has been really great so far

@tmp3 - he's fine. it's just a pretty generic role and doesn't have much to do. He can be pretty dynamic and Arthur is just kind of meh, even though he's the common driver.

Super excited for this and what it opens up with the horror side of the MCU.

The Nevers story definitely took a twist that got me more invested. Good for her.

Glad that we're kinda getting back into the One Shot business this year. Marvel have shown they're willing to circle back to plot threads and characters, but I'm hoping they also continue to circle back to certain structural decisions like this for the universe that were really standard in Phase 1

She was one of the few things I liked about The Nevers, so this is a welcome addition.

But still not really excited for this, since I have no idea what this is gonna be
