Director Barry Sonnenfeld has confirmed that both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are returning to reprise their roles in the new Man In Black film. Also, the film will be in 3D, but there is no word if they will shoot in 3D or will they do it in post. I hope that they will shoot the film in 3D because post-conversion is really a bad idea.

Since Will Smith doesn't have any movies slated for next year, it could be possible that this will be his new project. Smith was rumored to star in the Independence Day sequel and a remake of Alfred Hitchock’s Suspicion but now he has signed to bring another chapter in the Men In Black franchise along with Tommy Lee Jones. The only thing remains is when will they release the film. Stay tuned for the updates!

@Danorage

Welcome to this mad circus! You are gonna love it. But I am going to have to disagree with you, a new Independence Day would be pointless, it ended in such a way that it didnt need a sequel. While Men In Black 3 could offer something new as long as they get actual intelligent writers in for this movie and stop rehashing the first 2 movies. But I do think they should stop after MIB 3. I for one cant wait to see MIB 3. And then Will should do a Bad Boys 3 too!

sweet I love MIB and I can't wait for this but does anyone else think that Hollywood is running out of ideas because of all of these reboots, sequels, prequels, and especially remakes why can't anyone think of anything original anymore.

3D is just a fad that will pass within a couple of years... everyone is just trying to capitalize on James Cameron's Avatar success

@Lee hah I was gonna say that. It is good - I thought that's maybe what they were gonna call it when I read the headline.

It's one of those movies that could actually benefit from 3d too, imo (space and aliens).

@odie00 Bah - if done well, that could even add more charm to it. He "comes out of retirement AGAIN!". They're gonna do Ghostbusters 3 with those guys looking pretty haggard, come on.

I expect they'll be "training up the new guy" or something maybe too.

If they do it right, it will be awesome, and hysterical. If they do it shit, then it's gonna be shit. Again, same with Ghostbusters 3.

I enjoyed the first two films, but I will say the second was more mindless fun/entertainment than cutting edge like the first. I haven't seen any film in 3D, except for at Disney or Universal Studios, it seems gimmicky to me and for sh*ts and giggles rather than good cinema. I look forward to a 3rd movie since MIB2 left that door open, but I think it should stay a trilogy and no more after.

first...smith & jones back for MIB3 is the best news i've heard since....well...since awhile back.

second...no to 3D in all movies...i liked what chris nolan did with the dark knight as far as filming some of the major action scenes in IMAX but it's not something that should be done in every film b/c it just takes away from the uniqueness of it all (but i guess that is hollywood's job these days)

Can't wait for this to come out. Per the end of part 2, I hope they'll be dealing with huge aliens.

I'm sure myself, like everyone, can agree the second movie was horrible.

The 3rd will only be good if they return to the feel of the first i.e. (will smith the street cop isn't the only compitent member of MIB since they hire only from the best of the best). Maybe in this one, the world actually finds out about the aliens, like a big invasion the MIB stops, but the secret is out?

My question is will Rip Torn be in it? He seems to be going to jail alot. Every time I watch worlds dumbest he is on the show and not as a commentator.
