As most CBMers know, The Blackest Night is a comic book limited series published by DC Comics in 2009 and 2010, forming the basis of a crossover event between several DC publications. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Ivan Reis, Blackest Night involves a personified force of death resurrecting deceased superheroes and seeking to eliminate all life and emotion from the universe. Geoff Johns has identified the series' central theme as "emotion." The crossover was published for eight months via a limited series, as well as in both the Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps comic titles. Various other limited series and tie-ins were published.
The various emotions and colors of the Lantern Corps had to combine to fight the zombie-like Black Lanterns, and eventually the White Lanterns were born to resurrect those who had been dead.

Agent Orange (Greed)
Johns confirmed, at SDCC Comic Con 2009, that the oath required to recharge Larfleeze's ring has not been heard despite rumors of it being the word "mine" (a demand regularly made by both Agent Orange and his Orange Lanterns). Regardless, in an interview with Newsarama, he also stated that the Orange Lantern oath was his favorite. At WonderCon 2010. Johns responded to a fan that Larfleeze's oath would be revealed "soon."
